Yankovic got out of class

Live broadcast on February 24**, the Chinese Football Association issued an official statement today, confirming that Jankovic will no longer serve as the head coach of the Chinese national men's football team.

The Chinese Football Association said in a statement that the coaching contract of Jankovic and his coaching team has been automatically terminated due to the failure of the Chinese men's national football team to achieve a victory in the group stage of the 2023 Asian Cup in Qatar and its failure to qualify for the knockout round.

The Chinese Football Association would like to express its gratitude to Jankovic and his coaching team for their efforts and contributions during his tenure as coach, and wish Jankovic all the best in his future work and life.

Jankovic's coaching of the national football team has not been good

Jankovic succeeded Lippi as national coach in February 2023 and his contract expires at the 2024 Asian Cup.

Under the leadership of Jankovic, the national football team participated in 15 official matches, including the Dubai Cup, East Asian Cup and Asian Cup, but only achieved 4 wins, 4 draws and 7 losses, with a winning rate of only 27%.

Jankovic's biggest test was the Qatar Asian Cup in January 2024, when the national football team encountered three strong teams in the group stage: Japan, Saudi Arabia and Iraq, resulting in two draws and one defeat, without scoring a single goal or getting a shot on target, setting the worst record for the national football team to participate in the Asian Cup, and also becoming the first team in the history of the Asian Cup to have zero shots on target in the group stage.

Jankovic was interviewed after the Asian Cup, he admitted his responsibility, but also said that the strength of the national football team is not enough to compete with the Asian powerhouses, and he hopes that Chinese football can have better development.
