Find a new capital, which city is the most suitable
As mentioned in the previous article, in the early days of the founding of the People's Republic of China, we chose Beiping as the capital according to the international situation and the actual domestic situation at that time. Although Beijing is located in the north, there are many problems as the capital due to factors such as climate and environment.
Beijing, as the capital of China, faces some special challenges. The most obvious of these is the climate problem. The cold and long winters make it difficult for those living in the city to enjoy a comfortable life.
In addition, due to the low rainfall and water shortage in the Beijing area, this puts a lot of pressure on supporting such a large population. Therefore, China has to carry out the south-to-north water diversion project to solve this problem.
The northern part of China is vast, and the ecological environment is facing severe challenges. As the capital, Beijing is often affected by severe weather such as sandstorms, and it is urgent to deal with environmental problems.
Historically, Beijing as the capital was mostly under the condition that the northern ethnic minorities dominated the Central Plains, with the exception of the Ming Dynasty. This is mainly because the fief of Ming Chengzu Zhu Di was in Beijing, and the capital was moved to Beijing due to political factors.
Although it is now a modern society, China's economic center of gravity has shifted southward as early as the Ming and Qing dynasties, so Beijing, as the administrative center of the country, is located far from the most economically active areas in China.
If you put aside the restrictions of the founding period and look at it from the current perspective, which city is the most suitable city for the capital of our country? Some of the problems that exist in Beijing as a capital can actually be a reference factor when we choose the capital.
Personally, I think Zhengzhou and Wuhan are two more suitable options. Zhengzhou is located in the Central Plains region, the geographical position is superior, Luoyang in the west has a long history, there are thirteen dynasties in history to build their capitals here, and Kaifeng in the east is also a city with a long history, there have been many dynasties built their capitals here.
However, these two cities are either mountainous and have no room for development, or they are economically backward and have weak infrastructure. And Zhengzhou, which is located between them, is the best choice.
Zhengzhou, located in the central part of China, has a unique geographical location, like a bright pearl inlaid in the land of China. It connects the fertile Huaihai region to the east and the historic Guanzhong region to the west, while the Hexi Corridor provides easy access to the vast western land.
Regardless of the north-south direction, Zhengzhou is in the center and occupies a superior geographical location.
Henan, the birthplace of Chinese civilization, has a profound cultural heritage, and it is only natural that the capital should be located here. In addition to Zhengzhou, Wuhan is also an ideal place. Known as the "thoroughfare of nine provinces", Wuhan is bordered by the economically developed Yangtze River Delta region in the east and the booming Sichuan Basin in the west.
It is connected to the economically prosperous Pearl River Delta region in the south, and the Dabie Mountains in the north to the hinterland of the North China Plain.
Both Wuhan and Zhengzhou have unique advantages, but Wuhan is located at the confluence of the Yangtze River and the Han River, and is the geometric center of several major economic circles, with strong shipping advantages.
Zhengzhou, on the other hand, is rich in history and culture because of the province where it is located.
At this point in time, which city do you think is the most suitable city to become the capital?
