If my IELTS score does not match my expectations, can I apply for an EOR?

Mondo Education Updated on 2024-02-01

Many students walked out of the examination room confidently, thinking that the results this time were stable, but the results came out and were shocked, and did not match expectations, many students want to apply for reconsideration, but do not know what to do, so today I will introduce to you the IELTS score does not match the expected application for reconsideration.

What is IELTS ELO?

To put it simply, reconsideration is a process in which candidates who have objections to the results apply to the IELTS test official, and the official calls up the answer sheet (or audio recording for the speaking part) of your current test, and the elite examiner at the IELTS test headquarters will re-mark and give the final result.

What are the results of the Re-Council?

The official explanation is that there are three outcomes after the IELTS test result is reconsidered and rejudged: the candidate's score increases, remains unchanged, or decreases. However, in fact, there is only about a 1% chance that a candidate's score will be lowered. Therefore, there are only two common outcomes for reconsideration:

1.Score improvement: A new transcript will be issued, and the reconsideration fee will be refunded at the same time.

2.The score will not change: your original transcript will be delivered to you directly, and the reconsideration fee will not be refunded.

Under what circumstances is it appropriate to be reconsidered?

1. The results are stable, the examination room is normal, and the time is tight

The usual practice level is stable, and there are not too many mistakes in the exam process, no off-topic, not wrong to write, and at the same time, it is 05 points, the application is imminent, and if you don't have much time to prepare for the exam again, you can consider applying for reconsideration.

2. The old roast duck has been tempered for thousands of years, and his ability has improved, but his score has not improved

Roast duck who has taken the IELTS test many times, after a period of intensive training, has significantly improved ability, but the score has not changed or even decreased, can be considered to apply for reconsideration.

3. During the oral test, the examiner has unreasonable circumstances such as interruption and serious hurry (if the circumstances are serious, the examiner can be complained on the same day).

Special reminder:

1. IELTS listening and reading are objectively scored based on the number of correct answers, and the general error is relatively small. Therefore, the reconsideration score is generally only for IELTS Speaking and Writing. There is a 60% success rate in reconsideration and a 60% increase in individual scoresIt is about five minutes.

2. During the reconsideration period, the IELTS score will be frozen, and if you need to submit the score for college application or immigration application within 6 weeks, do not choose to reconsider.

Cases in which reconsideration is not recommended:

1.When taking the exam for the first time, the foundation is generally naked;

2.There is not much difference in the scores of the four items, and the performance in the examination room is average;

3.If you have already registered for the next exam, there is no need to reconsider, and you should spend your time and energy on preparing for the exam.

How to Request Reconsideration:

Within 4 weeks (28 days) after the TRF printing date (after receiving the original TRF), candidates can log on to the IELTS official website post-test service platform** to apply for the EOR service and pay the relevant fees. Candidates are also required to send the original TRF to the IELTS National Post Test Service**. Upon receipt of the EOR request from the candidate**, it will take 6 weeks for the British Council to complete the re-award.
