The Whampoa Military Academy was established on June 16, 1924, organized by Sun Yat-sen, and trained many high-level military talents for the Kuomintang and the Communist Party.

* In the thirteenth year (1924), Sun Yat-sen founded the "Chinese Kuomintang Army Military Academy", a school for training military cadres on Changzhou Island in Guangzhou, so the Army Military Academy was the party school of the Chinese Kuomintang at that time, cultivating military talents for the Kuomintang. However, at that time, it was the first period of cooperation between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party, so many Communist Party members joined the Kuomintang in their personal capacity and studied at the Whampoa Military Academy, and many later became prominent generals.
In 1927, the Northern Expedition was victorious, and the capital of the nation was Nanjing, and the Army Military Academy was also moved to Nanjing and renamed the "Army Military Academy". In 1937, the Anti-Japanese War broke out, and the Army Military Academy moved west to Chengdu. In 1946, the Army Military Academy was renamed the "China ** Army Military Academy", but with the defeat of the Kuomintang in the civil war in 1949, it moved to Taiwan.

Now the original site of the Huangpu Military Academy in Guangzhou is a national key cultural relics protection unit, called the "former site of the Huangpu Military Academy", there are the former residence of Sun Yat-sen, the monument to Sun Yat-sen, the tomb of the fallen soldiers of the Eastern Expedition, the monument to the Northern Expedition and other buildings. At present, the former site of the Whampoa Military Academy is open to the public for free, but you need to receive a visit ticket, which is limited to 2,000 people per day.
