(Correspondent: Zhou Yuzhen) How did genetically modified food come about, and whether it has any effect on the human body, there are mixed opinions on this topic. In order to improve residents' scientific understanding of genetically modified food and strengthen the importance of health education, on the morning of January 9, Hongshanfang Community and Shujiajie Community of Zhongnan Road Street, Wuchang District carried out a popular science publicity activity with the theme of "Improving Scientific Quality and Rational Understanding of Genetically Modified Food" in Hubei Foreign Language Bookstore, and invited 60 residents in the jurisdiction to this activity, hoping to improve their cognitive level through this popular science, enrich their spare time, and then create a happy community life atmosphere.

At the event, Professor Yang Guangxiao from Huazhong University of Science and Technology gave a lecture on the spot. Professor Yang used easy-to-understand and humorous language to teach residents and friends what is genetically modified technology, what fields are used for this technology and the food safety issues involved, and patiently and meticulously answered questions raised by residents about the safety of genetically modified organisms. In order to mobilize the enthusiasm of residents to participate, a question and answer session was also set up on the spot, and residents were active in the atmosphere between questions and answers, improving their awareness of food safety, and further enhancing their scientific and rational judgment on genetically modified food. In order to intuitively improve residents' awareness of genetically modified food, 8 exhibition racks were also placed in the event venue to introduce in detail the application status of the technology at home and abroad, and the biosafety evaluation and management of China's agriculture.

This activity improved the scientific literacy of the masses, created a strong atmosphere for community residents to understand food safety objectively, scientifically and rationally, and allowed science popularization to enter the grassroots and serve residents, so as to truly form a good trend of loving and advocating science in the community.
