Chen Mingren wore a gun into the meeting
In 1973, the Beijing Military Region ushered in a new group of leading groups, the most striking of which was the youngest member -- * He was only 44 years old, who had previously worked in the People's Liberation Army Newspaper and was exceptionally promoted to deputy political commissar of the Beijing Military Region, showing outstanding work ability.
He had experienced something that happened a few years ago and it was a testament to his strength.
In 1959, the second National People's Congress was held in Beijing, and there was an endless stream of deputies from all over the country.
**, as one of the deputies to the National People's Congress of the Nanjing Military Region, he was particularly eye-catching among the participants. He is studying at the Nanjing Military Academy, his military rank is not high, and he is young, but why can he become one of the five deputies?
The story behind this comes from his brilliant achievements. In May 1949, when our army was preparing to conquer Shanghai, a sensational thing happened. The three soldiers led by *** came to the Kuomintang base through the sewers and successfully captured more than 1,000 enemy troops by using tactics such as sneak attacks.
At that time, at the age of 20, he was rated as a first-class combat model and a people's hero in East China.
In 1950, he participated in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, performed well on the battlefield, and was awarded a first-class military merit. The title of National Model Hero allowed him to represent the Nanjing People's Liberation Army District in the National People's Congress.
In that era when there were no restrictions on guns, it was common to carry ** with you, especially among the soldiers who had experienced the war, it was even more common to carry **.
However, to participate in such an important session of the National People's Congress, in order to ensure safety, everyone must hand over ** and keep it in the custody of the Secretariat. However, there is one exception, and he is Chen Mingren, a founding general.
Chen Mingren has been on the battlefield for a long time and has long been accustomed to carrying **, perhaps because of negligence, he forgot this regulation. Although it is not difficult to collect the gun, due to Chen Mingren's special status, the ** he carries cannot be easily collected.
Born in 1903, Admiral Chen Mingren was closely associated with Chiang Kai-shek throughout his military career. As a student of the first phase of Whampoa, he became a close general of Chiang Kai-shek.
During the Northern Expedition, his courage and courage were highly valued by Chiang Kai-shek.
In order to show Chiang Kai-shek's trust and importance to Chen Mingren, he specially presented Chen Mingren with a German-made gold-plated pistol engraved with the words "Chiang Zhongzheng's gift", and the preciousness of this pistol is self-evident.
And it was this pistol that was not handed over that witnessed the heroic deeds of General Chen Mingren when he participated in the National People's Congress. Although Chen Mingren was a Kuomintang general and was in the opposite camp with our party, he was able to understand the righteousness and revolted during the liberation of Changsha in 1949, making outstanding contributions to the liberation of Changsha.
In 1955, Chen Mingren was awarded the rank of general as the only general from the Chiang family among the founding generals. This makes his influence hard to ignore.
In this regard, Secretary-General Peng Zhen, who has served as mayor of Beijing for many consecutive terms, has a keen insight into the stakes.
Peng Zhen knew that this matter should not be acted hastily, and he wanted to find a proper solution. Peng Zhen decided to let the army handle the matter, so he asked Mr. He of the PLA delegation for help.
Mr. He understood Peng Zhen's difficulties, but as a prominent leader, it was inconvenient for him to go directly to collect the gun. Therefore, representatives of various military regions, including those of the Nanjing Military Region, were convened to discuss countermeasures.
*Personally ordered,**Ordered: In order for Chen Mingren to hand over the gun, it must be done in a suitable way. Chen Mingren has made outstanding meritorious deeds, and he cannot be suppressed with a higher rank, which is not in line with the atmosphere of our army, and it is also disrespectful to him.
Therefore, it is better to find a junior to persuade him in a gentle way, which may have better results. However, this junior can't just choose. If his military rank is too low or his military merits are too small, it will not show respect for Chen Mingren.
Finding a suitable person requires a variety of conditions such as military merit, youth, and social skills, especially when Chen Mingren accepts this approach, this challenge is even more daunting.
Mr. He looked around, and finally set his eyes on ***. **After the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, he served as the deputy director of the Political Department of the 27th Army Corps of Jiangsu Wuxian Regiment.
** Served in the daily work of the regimental political department, had extensive administrative experience, and was promoted to director in 1955 for his outstanding performance, with the rank of "major".
At that time, he was the youngest of the 39 majors of the 27th Army. The award ceremony was presided over by Xiao Wangdong, director of the Political Department of the Nanjing Military Region, who looked at the military medal and said to him with admiration: "Xiao Chi, you are outstanding among young people, and you must continue to work hard!" ”
The Nanjing Military Region discovered the potential, provided him with the opportunity to further his studies, and enabled him to participate in the sessions of the National People's Congress. Mr. He had heard of this young and promising major, whose combat style was similar to that of Chen Mingren, full of bravery and wisdom.
** Having fulfilled the three conditions mentioned above, he has a wealth of social experience, and his military merits and rank are sufficient to complete this "mission". In addition, his youth has also earned him understanding, and even if his phrasing is inappropriate, it does not cause too much offend.
So, Mr. He assigned *** to negotiate with General Chen Mingren and take back the gun. ** was a little surprised by this important task, he knew that this was Mr. He's affirmation of his ability, but at the same time, he also understood the difficulties.
Chen Mingren was a hot-tempered man who was once able to confront Chiang Kai-shek without fear. And he is neither a general nor a great man, why is Chen Mingren willing to give him this face?
But because this was Mr. He's instructions, he decided to give it a go. His words were appropriate, and he succeeded in getting Chen Mingren to hand over the gun to him for safekeeping. In order to do this, ** thought for a long time at the time, repeatedly deliberated on the wording, and finally mustered up the courage to walk to the door of Admiral Chen Mingren's room.
** Gently knocked on the door of Admiral Chen Mingren's room, and after the door opened, Admiral Chen Mingren saw a young man in a military uniform, and looked a little surprised. **Indicated his identity, and said by the way: "* long, let me report to you a matter, yesterday the secretariat had a rule, during the meeting delegates need to carry ** to hand over to the unified safekeeping, I don't know if you brought **?"
This simple dialogue seems simple and straightforward, but there are no superfluous words in every sentence. The previous sentence made it clear that the purpose of *** knocking on the door was to "report" the matter, not to "inform" or "notify", which reflected his respect for Chen Mingren.
Chen Mingren felt very useful about this, so he was able to continue to listen to what he had to say.
During the meeting, the Secretariat had a uniform custody policy, which was a requirement for everyone to be treated equally, including Chen Mingren. This provision is a reflection of the nature of the Secretariat's work during the meeting, and Chen Mingren can naturally understand and accept it.
** Instead of "bringing a gun" as the premise of the inquiry, it was conducted under the premise of "not bringing a gun", which made Chen Mingren think that it was just a routine matter and would not have a feeling of "targeting".
Chen Mingren is a straightforward and uninhibited person, as long as the other party asks in a polite way, he does not care too much about the intentions behind it.
Chen Mingren heroically took out a meaningful pistol from his waist, handed it to *** and took it solemnly, admiring its delicacy and the four words on it, and understanding the special significance of this gun.
Behind this ephemeral process, lies the profound wisdom of socializing. When *** presented the gun to Mr. He, Mr. He breathed a sigh of relief and relied more on the young man.
The small is big, and the personal talent of the ** is reflected here. He not only speaks appropriately, has a suitable identity, and is young and promising, but also continues to shine in the construction of New China by virtue of his wisdom and talent, showing his potential as a rising star and great achievements.
In 1967, after graduating from the Nanjing Military Academy, he served as the deputy political commissar of the 27th Division of the 79th Army. Once, there were criminals in the medical school, and the situation was so serious that it even alarmed the prime minister.
The prime minister ordered that the matter should be resolved as soon as possible to ensure the safety of the people's lives and property, and ** was ordered to go. In the face of the other party's burning, killing and looting, he was fearless.
Knowing that peace is not easy to come by, he understands that the heroic way of fighting on the battlefield does not apply to peacetime. Even in the face of lawless elements with an arrogant attitude, he regarded them as compatriots of New China.
Therefore, in the face of the threat of sticks, he insisted on negotiating with them with bitter words. **'s wisdom and patience eventually succeeded, and the criminals realized their mistake and chose to settle it peacefully, successfully avoiding possible personnel**.
This information reveals that after years of tempering, the thinking has become more mature and stable. The wit of his youth is still there, but more wisdom has been added to the baptism of the years.
Due to his outstanding talent, he was successfully selected in 1973 when the leadership of the Beijing Military Region was reorganized. And in the 1979 self-defense counterattack against Vietnam, he once again stood at the forefront of the war.
This time, he was awarded the rank of general in 1988 for his outstanding performance in the counterattack.
During his service, the general served as Chief of the General Staff of the People's Liberation Army, Minister of National Defense, Vice Chairman of the Military Commission of the Communist Party of China, and member of the Politburo.
He made tremendous contributions to the construction of New China and made outstanding meritorious contributions. After retirement, although he lived a low-key life, there were several important activities in which he would be involved.
** On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Shanghai, the general was interviewed. He recounted his feat of capturing 1,000 people with the strength of three people, but said that he was not willing to take credit for first-class merit, because in his eyes, the lives of his comrades were more precious.
He always kept the group in mind, not the individual honor. Later, at the age of 92, General ** personally inscribed the monument to Yimeng Hongsao, hoping that everyone can remember the people in the war years, and their contributions have made us have today's peaceful life.
In 2022, **'s body is still healthy and he loves calligraphy. Many people praise ***'s subtle writing and ink, and his temperament is both rigid and soft, which is actually a portrayal of ***'s personality.
Perhaps, persuading Admiral Chen Mingren to let go of ** is just a small episode in Admiral's colorful and repeated military exploits. However, this small episode reveals the wisdom and prudence of a young man, and at the same time gives us a glimpse of his future.
