During the Second World War, the use of plastic pallets and forklifts became a key component of the logistics strategy of Europe and the United States.

With the post-war economic recovery, based on the reflection and research on the capabilities of the U.S. military's logistics and military support system, in order to improve logistics efficiency and improve the international competitiveness of Japanese products, the Japanese Industrial Standard for Flat Pallets (JIS) was formulated in 1963, and the test method for flat pallets for direct transportation and the JIS packaging specification series were formulated in 1970.

In 1991, EPAL (European Pallet Association) was established by the German Railway Association, the French Railway Association and other railway associations, aiming to formulate and monitor European pallet standards. The European Pallet Association is the only body that issues EPAL pallet production licenses and has members throughout Europe, as well as in the United States and Australia.

In 2001, in order to cooperate with JPR in Shenzhen Yantian Port, Shenzhen Shunhangtong International Freight Co., Ltd., China's first professional plastic pallet operator, Shenzhen Shunhangtong International Freight Co., Ltd., was registered and established in Shenzhen.

Due to the differences and complexities of the historical conditions, development levels and pallet joint operation practices of various economies, the pallet operation organization model is also diversified, and various model innovations such as leasing company system, manufacturer or user membership system, mixed system and information intermediary system are emerging one after another.

Nowadays, in order to meet various environmental needs, the types of plastic pallets are also increasingly updated, and different styles meet different special needs, jointly creating brilliance for the logistics development industry.
