Guzaili Ayi. How are the educational interns doing(2024-01-10)
Educational practice is an important part of teacher education and an indispensable part of teaching practice to achieve teaching goals. However, it is also an indisputable fact that educational internships are neglected, not only by the interns themselves, but also by colleges and universities that train students, and by internship schools, where internships are scarcely concerned. If you don't pay attention to the internship, you will also cause the education interns to walk silently and alone, and they will not get attention and help in the internship.
School Perspective: Focused on teaching but jerky and detached
From the perspective of the internship school, the intern teachers performed well in the teaching activities. Most of the intern teachers come to the class on time to listen to the class, give lectures seriously, and help students solve problems, but there are also some intern teachers who do not take the initiative to communicate with students and do not enter the students' learning and life.
First of all, in terms of classroom teaching, intern teachers generally lack experience, do not grasp the level of knowledge enough, do not have strong language coherence, do not have enough motivation for teaching, and are not there enough generative educational content.
Secondly, outside of classroom teaching, intern teachers rarely participate in exchanges and organize in-class activities, only some intern teachers will communicate with a very small number of students, and most intern teachers do not participate in the whole process of in-class activities, which is related to short-term internships or lack of experience.
Finally, in terms of intergenerational relay, trainee teachers need to work harder. As a new force in the teaching profession, trainee teachers are the reserve army of China's education, and they will shoulder the great mission of building a strong country in education. They have more of the breath and vitality of the new era than teachers who have been engaged in the education industry for many years. However, it should not be ignored that with the transformation of the modern normal education model, intern teachers are not only students of normal education, but also non-normal college students, which brings certain difficulties to the internship work. What they lack is traditional educational experience and educational methods, so trainee teachers should avoid mechanization and simplification as much as possible in the process of educational practice.
Student's perspective: Expectation, but advantages and disadvantages
Students have high expectations of trainee teachers. The vast majority of students are very welcoming to trainee teachers; Most students think that trainee teachers can change the tedium of single-style classroom learning and bring new ways of learning, and hope that the internship will last for more than a month, or even longer. A small number of students think that the trainee teacher will disrupt the learning plan and delay learning because they cannot quickly adapt to the teaching of the new teacher, so the expectations are not very high. However, a very small number of students have not changed because of the arrival of trainee teachers.
Students generally tolerate the shortcomings of trainee teachers. Compared with regular teachers, intern teachers tend to be more nervous, lack of humor, lack of organization, and lack of clarity of thinking, which are the aspects they need to improve in their internships. However, trainee teachers are still easy to communicate, young and energetic, able to understand students' feelings and ideas, so they can bring students a different sense of freshness, and often use more and new teaching methods. In general, trainee teachers are not as experienced as classroom teachers, so they need to work hard in the direction of patience and responsibility, humor, enthusiasm, clarity, and innovative spirit, and should strengthen their learning from experienced teachers through observation and imitation.
Trainee teachers should have a sense of self-renewal. As a new batch of teaching interns, intern teachers should have a correct understanding of the qualities they should have, and should strictly require themselves to develop a good habit of diligent study and good thinking when they are students, learn more knowledge to enrich themselves, cultivate stronger language skills, and practice the two basic skills of Mandarin and board writing. Of course, the educational internship itself is a long process, and extending the internship time appropriately is also a good exercise and improvement for the interns.
In short, educational internship is an important part of training competent and qualified teachers, and colleges and universities must attach great importance to this work, and the internship unit should provide strong support, and the interns themselves should also take the initiative to improve their abilities. Only by working together can we ensure the quality of educational internships, promote the sustainable and healthy development of teacher education, and train qualified and high-level teachers for the country.
