Li Youlan is a native of Ningbo, Zhejiang, his father is the patriotic industrialist Li Shanxiang, Li Youlan, who has lived a superior life since childhood, is not pampered at all, she has a heart of worrying about the country and the people, during the all-out anti-Japanese war, she followed her father back to her hometown, and later she joined the anti-Japanese war.
In November 1937, 18-year-old Li Youlan went to the Wuhan Office of the Eighth Route Army and wanted to go to Yan'an through introduction.
Mainly because the Fengling ferry had been occupied by the Japanese army at that time, and later under the introduction of ***, Li Youlan and others went to the office of the New Fourth Army in Nanchang, and later joined the New Fourth Army.
Under difficult conditions, Li Youlan worked hard to overcome all kinds of difficulties, her work was recognized by her superiors, in the work she met the deputy commander Xiang Ying, Li Youlan admired Xiang Ying's heroic deeds very much, Xiang Ying also had a deep impression of Li Youlan, and the two gradually came together.
In 1941, Li Youlan and Xiang Ying got married, but less than two months after the two got married, there was a shocking "Southern Anhui Incident" that shocked China and foreign countries, originally Xiang Ying had highlighted the enemy's encirclement, but under the enemy's crazy search, on March 14, 1941, Xiang Ying was killed by a traitor at the age of 43.
After Xiang Ying's sacrifice, Li Youlan, who learned the news, washed his face with tears all day long, and it took a long time to come out of his sadness, Li Youlan continued to engage in revolutionary work, and in January 1942, the Central China Bureau held an enlarged meeting of the party committee in Funing, northern Jiangsu, and Li Youlan attended the meeting and served as a stenographer.
At the meeting, Zhang Aiping, then deputy commander of the Third Division of the New Fourth Army, made an unscripted speech on the stage, and Li Youlan recorded the content of Zhang Aiping's speech.
Later, in the contact, Zhang Aiping fell in love with Li Youlan, and Li Youlan also admired Zhang Aiping, who could fight and was literate, and later Zhang Aiping went to the front line, and the two wrote to contact, Zhang Aiping's pursuit of Li Youlan was opposed by some people, thinking that Li Youlan should keep the festival for Xiang Ying.

In 1955, Zhang Aiping was awarded the rank of general, and Li Youlan naturally became the wife of the founding general, Li Youlan gave birth to three sons and one daughter for Zhang Aiping, and their eldest son served as the deputy commander of the "Second Artillery" and was awarded the rank of lieutenant general.
On July 5, 2003, General Zhang Aiping died of illness at the age of 93, and Li Youlan died of illness on February 2, 2012 at the age of 93.
