A long time ago, in the water town of Jiangnan, there was a small village called Aman. The people of the village make a living by growing rice, and there is a mysterious rice field that can be harvested regardless of drought and flood, and people call it "Blessed Rice Field".
Legend has it that this rice field has a guardian - Grandpa Lao Shi. Grandpa Shi is not an extraordinary person, he was originally a rice fairy in the heavenly palace, because of a trip down to investigate the suffering of the world, he saw that the villagers of Aman Village were simple and kind but suffering from hunger, so he decided to stay here, incarnated as an ancient stone standing on the edge of the rice field, silently guarding the rice field.
Every year during spring ploughing, the villagers will come to Grandpa Shi and pray sincerely, and Grandpa Shi will also use the power of spring breeze to make the rice seeds sprout and grow quickly. In the summer, even though the flood is raging and the surrounding area of the rice field is submerged, this rice field is as stable as a rock, and the rice seedlings are still verdant. At the time of the autumn harvest, the ears of rice were heavy and golden, more abundant than any other rice field.
One year, a greedy landlord came to the village, and he took a fancy to the blessed rice field and wanted to take it for himself. The landlord sent people to forcibly destroy Grandpa Shi and remove him from the rice field. As a result, that year, the rice fields were no longer magical, and the harvest was dismal. The villagers were in a predicament, and they were heartbroken and remembered Grandpa Shi.
At this moment, a gray-haired old man appeared in front of the villagers, he told everyone that he was a rice fairy, and revealed the true identity of Grandpa Shi. The villagers were full of remorse and worked together to put Grandpa Shi back on the edge of the rice field. In an instant, the rice fields were full of life, and the rice seedlings grew rapidly, and soon returned to their former prosperity.
Since then, the villagers have respected and cherished Grandpa Shi even more, and they have learned that only by respecting nature and revering the gods can they receive the gifts of the earth. And Grandpa Lao Shi also continued to silently guard the rice fields of Aman Village and became the eternal guardian saint in the hearts of the villagers. This beautiful folk tale has also been passed down from generation to generation, educating future generations to respect nature and be grateful for life.
