Recently, the Confucius Institute in Brittany, France, held the 2024 "Chinese Culture Week", and the "Blessing from China 'Chinese Dragon' Global Design Exhibition" was unveiled in France for the first time, attracting many young students and surrounding residents.
It is understood that the exhibition is guided by the Shandong Provincial Department of Education, sponsored by the China Folk Literature and Art Association, Shandong Institute of Arts and Crafts, and nearly 20 overseas Confucius Institutes, undertaken by the Propaganda Department of the Party Committee of Shandong Institute of Arts and Crafts, the International Exchange and Cooperation Office, and the School of Visual Communication Design.
The exhibition showcased more than 50 works by teachers and students majoring in art and design from many universities in China, as well as outstanding designers, cartoonists and illustrators. The works break through the traditional design thinking, refine the essence of excellent traditional Chinese culture, and focus on dragons in different periods and different art forms, with a variety of art forms such as plane, animation, text, and graphics as carriers, showing different artistic images such as the unpredictable cloud dragon, the harmonious and complete group dragon, the vigorous and powerful dragon, and the free and elegant descending dragon, radiating the unique expressiveness and lasting vitality of dragon culture.
Laughter, punching in and taking pictures, research and discussion. An auspicious cloud, a pattern, a craft, a culture, under the artistic and innovative design ingenuity, the beauty of the dragon is endowed with thousands of ways to present, and it also makes the Spring Festival culture and Chinese image so warm and deep.
The year 2024 marks the 39th anniversary of the establishment of friendly relations between Shandong Province and the Brittany Region of France, as well as the 10th anniversary of the establishment of cooperative relations between Shandong Academy of Arts and Crafts and the Confucius Institute in Brittany, France. In December 2023, a delegation from Shandong Institute of Arts and Crafts visited the Confucius Institute in Brittany, France, and the two sides reached a cooperation intention on further strengthening cultural exchanges and cooperation and actively promoting mutual cultural understanding between China and France, and agreed to jointly hold the Year of the Dragon Zodiac Cultural Design Exhibition during the Spring Festival in 2024. This exhibition is a concrete measure for our university to implement the results of the visit, which integrates dragon culture with modern aesthetics, presents a different dragon cultural journey for the French people, builds a bridge for Sino-French cultural exchanges and mutual learning, and promotes the emotional interaction and people-to-people bond between the Chinese and French people.
It is reported that the exhibition will also be held in nearly 20 Confucius Institutes and related institutions in France, the United Kingdom, Spain, South Korea, Canada, South Africa, Kenya, Uruguay, Australia, Congo (Brazzaville), Malaysia, Jordan, Bahrain, Indonesia, Samoa, Tajikistan and other countries, covering many countries in Asia, the Americas, Africa, Europe and Oceania.
