China's chips are 10 years ahead of American technology! After Intel spoke, TSMC began to fight back!
Intel's president has changed his previous friendly attitude towards the mainland market and poured cold water on China's chip technology.
In his view, under the constraints of the tripartite agreement on chips, China lags behind the United States in chip technology for ten years, and it can still be maintained. What is Sustainability? In other words, the ten-year gap will last for a long time, and no matter how hard we try, it will be impossible to narrow the ten-year gap.
He said this to prevent this from happening, because American companies cannot affect the development of China, especially in China, where they have already made a lot of money.
However, Intel did not expect TSMC to take it quickly"Confrontation"Measure.
As soon as these words came out, news came out of TSMC's ** chain, saying that Apple would be TSMC's first user to adopt the 2 nm process. Of course, this is not surprising, after all, in the 3nm process, Apple is also carefully selected, so before that, Apple will learn from TSMC's advanced process, but it is understandable. One of the most important is TSMC's 2 nm process technology, which has been proven globally, and has also won big customers like the United States.
It is worth mentioning that in order to cope with the mass production of the 2 nm process, TSMC will also build two new chip fabs, and three have been approved. But, on the other hand, what can Intel do?
Of course, it is not for nothing, just like the EUV lithography machine, Intel has taken the lead in getting the most advanced lithography machine, and has obtained the priority supply qualification of ASML. Therefore, in the field of chip production equipment, Intel is undoubtedly far ahead. At the same time, Intel Corporation has a 3 nm process and claims that its technology has surpassed 2 nm. In addition, the two companies also announced 1A 5 nm fab will be built in Germany.
However, the latter is a little pale in the eyes of the public, because Intel does not have this ability at all, and it has not even entered the production stage. Prior to this, only ASML provided a 2 nm lithography machine to Intel, so Intel is quite ahead in chip manufacturing. However, this does not mean that they will always be at the forefront of chip technology in the United States.
On the one hand, TSMC's leadership in technology is obvious to all, far surpassing Samsung, Intel, etc. Even if they can come up with technologies like 2 nm, 3 nm, it can only be TSMC. But now, only TSMC can be recognized by consumers, TSMC is a Chinese company, and people say that China and the United States are more than ten years apart, they are not afraid"Slap in the face"?
Intel's foundation lies in the fact that they are preparing to enter the foundry business, and American chip companies have an absolute advantage in this field. The three-in-one ** is at the forefront, mastering better technology and occupying an absolute advantage.
But Intel has overlooked one thing: TSMC won't give them any chance in advanced chip contracts, especially when their technological capabilities are not yet recognized by the market. TSMC's continuous announcement of high-end chip contract orders may be the best example.
At the same time, there is still a lot of uncertainty in the tripartite agreement, and the United States has also been restricted in chip design, and I am afraid that it will not be as smooth sailing as before. Therefore, it may be a little premature to say Intel's wild words.
