In 1991, Jiangsu occupied six of the top 10 counties in China, which clearly demonstrated Jiangsu's solid economic strength.

Among them, Xiaoshan County has unique changes in the course of economic development. Initially, in 1988, Xiaoshan County was abolished in one fell swoop and renamed Xiaoshan City (county level). However, after 13 years of development, in 2001, the county-level city of Xiaoshan also faced administrative adjustments, which eventually evolved into the present-day Xiaoshan District of Hangzhou. Behind this adjustment may be to better adapt to the local economic layout and administrative needs.

On the other hand, Shaoxing County has also undergone changes that cannot be ignored in the administrative division. Specifically, in October 2013, the "Reply on Agreeing to the Adjustment of Some Administrative Divisions of Shaoxing City in Zhejiang Province" approved the revocation of Shaoxing County and established Keqiao District under the jurisdiction of Shaoxing City.

Yixing County was born on January 9, 1988, which was the day of the official announcement. At that historic moment, Yixing County was revoked and replaced by a new county-level administrative division, Yixing City, which officially became a bright pearl on the map.

Zhangjiagang was once given the name of Shazhou, but one day in September 1986, Shazhou County entered a long river of history, and the existence of a natural harbor will write a new chapter in this land. Since then, this place has emerged under the name of Zhangjiagang and has become a city-level administrative division, earning itself a glorious status.

Wu County, in June 1995, announced its retirement from the stage of history, and then gave birth to Wu County City (county level). However, the wheel of history kept spinning, and in December 2000, the name of Wuxian City also dissipated, and the Wuzhong District and Xiangcheng District of Suzhou City took its place, once again interpreting the change of administrative division.

Changshu, on January 18, 1983, experienced the reform from Changshu County to Changshu City (county level). This process is not only a change of name, but also the starting point of a city construction. The establishment of Changshu City has given this land a new era background.

Nanhai County, on September 23, 1992, bid farewell to the county-level administrative status, ushered in the birth of the city-level status, and was included in the management of Foshan City. However, the years changed, and on December 8, 2002, the name of Nanhai City was revoked, and the Nanhai District of Foshan City officially became the new administrative division.

Wujin County, on June 8, 1995, ushered in the historical moment of withdrawing the county and establishing a city. However, history did not end there, and in April 2002, Wujin City underwent another transformation from the municipal level to the district level. Time flies, on April 28, 2015, ** announced again that the Wujin District and Qishuyan District of Changzhou City were officially revoked, ending their municipal administrative status.

Jiangyin County, in 1983, belonged to Wuxi City, and four years later, in 1987, it underwent the transformation of withdrawing the county and establishing a city. The history of Jiangyin County has thus bloomed a new chapter.

Wuxi County, in the 80s, was proud of the development of township enterprises, and its economic aggregate was the leading in the country, and it was known as the first county in China. However, in 2000, in order to adapt to the development trend of the times, the name of Wuxi County was changed to Xishan District, which became an indispensable part of the city's map.
