Cocoon is our dialect, and the more popular name is called Dayu. The reason why we call it a cocoon is that the object being hit is shaped like a silkworm cocoon, with two pointed ends and a bulging middle.
Cocooning was a favorite game for boys in the 70s of the last century. Playing this game is generally during the winter vacation of the Chinese New Year, the specific way to play is to first find a round wooden stick about 10 cm long, scrape the skin clean, and then sharpen the two ends, so that it is made into a cocoon; Then find a wooden stick about 50 cm long and use it to hit the cocoon.
The rules of our game are: first find an open space, and then draw a circle on the ground, we call it a "pot", and use a wooden stick to draw a concave horizontal line on the edge of the pot called the pot table. The participants can be two people or more than one person, whether it is two people or more than one person, they must be divided into two groups, one group knocks out the cocoon of the pot, and the other throws the knock-out cocoon into the pot.
Both sides decide who will strike the cocoon first by way of paper-scissors. The first party to cocoon put the cocoon on the pot table, use a wooden stick to knock the cocoon up first, and then aim at it when it does not hit the ground and knock it hard, if it is the ** of the cocoon, the cocoon will fly far away, the other party stands in place with the cocoon in his hand and throws it back, and if it can be thrown into the pot at once, even if it wins, if it can't be thrown, the other party hits it far away where the cocoon lands, and so on; If the opponent hits him steadily, he will sometimes beat the cocoon far away from the pot.
This kind of game is very exercised, but there are also risks, if the stick is taken off, it is easy to hurt people, I was hit in the face by a little friend when the stick was taken off, and I still have a scar on my eyebrows.
