Plans for the improvement of synthetic brigades after equipping them with UAVs and unmanned combat vehicles.
After the conflict between Russia and Ukraine and Palestinian-Israeli, the application of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) has become popular, and on this basis, the synthetic brigade of our army should also be reformed accordingly.
Personally, I believe that the main improvement directions should be the following:
1.Expansion of a separate drone battalion.
The drone units of the original battalions should be separated and expanded into drone battalions. It has two companies of long-range UAVs, two companies of medium-sized UAVs, one company of battlefield surveillance, and one company of UAV reconnaissance. In the future, this battalion will be the top priority of the whole brigade and the most important firepower output unit.
In view of the particularity of the battalion, not only should the battalion commander be highly equipped, but it is also best to set up a full-time deputy brigade commander to uniformly manage the air situation command work of the whole brigade, such as unmanned aerial vehicles, air defense, and air-ground cooperation. As for how to cooperate with the ground forces of UAVs, especially how to guide and direct the actions of ground combat vehicles on the battlefield, a lot of cooperation and drills are required.
2.Addition of small unmanned aerial vehicles and loitering missiles
In addition to specialized UAV battalions, it is necessary to significantly increase the number of small UAVs and cruise missiles in various combat battalions. In particular, each company needs to set up a separate UAV operation team in the company headquarters. In addition to the company headquarters, the platoon commander of each platoon must also have a drone control platform on the vehicle, equipped with a drone that can throw mortar shells, and be used by a professional operator on the vehicle.
In particular, it should be emphasized that each vehicle should also be equipped with a drone jammer. And the hand-held version of a similar instrument should be equipped with every infantry squad. According to the estimate, each company must have 2-3 UAV control consoles, and each of the three platoons should have a UAV console, and the whole company can control at least 5-6 bomb-dropping drones at the same time. If backups are taken into account, each company needs to train at least about 12 UAV operators.
3.Unmanned combat vehicle units were added
In addition to various types of UAVs, the composite brigade should also be supplemented with unmanned combat vehicle units. Due to the current technical limitations, unmanned combat vehicles do not have independent combat capabilities, so it is best to be integrated into each combat company, and the company headquarters will control and command it in a unified manner. And after our army was changed to a four-car platoon, the company usually had two combat vehicles + one armored vehicle. Each of these vehicles can tow a trailer, which can carry ammunition spare parts, or a small unmanned combat vehicle, which is controlled by a special person on each vehicle.
These special unmanned combat vehicles are maintained by the maintenance team on the deputy company commander's vehicle in peacetime, and can be formed into an unmanned reconnaissance platoon in wartime to be used as scouts and top soldiers of the whole company. In the future, each armored infantry company will be equipped with 3 unmanned combat vehicles, a truck with a trailer, and a miscellaneous warrior vehicle in addition to 14 combat vehicles and 1 armored vehicle, for a total of 21 vehicles of various types.
Future armored armored infantry company: three four-car platoon + company headquarters + unmanned combat vehicle platoon = 14 + 1 + 3 vehicles
1. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd platoons: each has 4 heavy infantry fighting vehicles, each with 10 people in a squad, each with a crew of 3 and a crew of 7 people.
The first, second and third squads: 3 people in each car group, 7 infantry people in the dismount
2 squad machine gunners, 1 squad bazooka hands, 1 bazooka off-hand, 1 precision rifle shooter, 2 riflemen. If necessary, a miniature reconnaissance drone can be installed, which will be operated by the commander.
The fourth shift: platoon commander car, 3 crews, 1 drone operator, equipped with a school firing drone that can drop 60 mm mortar shells. In addition, 6 infantry men dismounted, carrying a 60mm mortar, a spare medium-caliber chain machine gun, and a sniper rifle of the same caliber.
2. Company: 3 vehicles + 3 unmanned combat vehicles
Company commander car: a 3+7 person command combat vehicle, the roof station is equipped with a small radar, chain cannon, anti-tank anti-aircraft dual-purpose missiles, and UAV jammers. The crew is divided into a command group and a drone operation group, towing an unmanned combat vehicle equipped with anti-tank and bullet chain machine guns, and a bomb-dropping drone is combined on the roof, and a bullet chain machine gun is spared.
Finger vehicle: a 3+7 person command combat vehicle, the roof ** station is equipped with a small radar, chain cannon, anti-tank anti-aircraft dual-purpose missiles, UAV jammer, the crew is divided into a command group and a UAV operation group, towing an unmanned combat vehicle equipped with anti-tank missiles and a chain machine gun, a bomb-dropping drone is combined on the roof, and a bullet chain machine gun is spared.
Deputy company commander's car: an armored personnel transport vehicle with a roof ** station equipped with 127 rotary machine guns, strengthening communications and repair equipment. Load the maintenance group, the three-defense group, the drone operation group, etc., tow an unmanned combat vehicle equipped with anti-tank missiles and a chain machine gun, and combine a bomb-dropping drone on the roof of the vehicle, and a spare chain machine gun.
In addition, each company can be equipped with 1 truck with a drinking trailer and 2 warrior or warrior executive vehicles. These unprotected vehicles are used by the team on a daily basis, and in wartime, they are uniformly joined by the battalion support company.
4.Formation of assault reconnaissance battalions.
One of the major problems of our composite brigades is the lack of powerful reconnaissance units. Especially in a frontal encounter, our reconnaissance battalion has only one armored reconnaissance company, and once it encounters the enemy's armored cavalry battalion of 14 Tan and 41 infantry battles, it can only be evaded by maneuvering.
As for the solution, it is also very simple, that is, to combine the main force of the original Fourth Composite Battalion with the reconnaissance battalion and organize it into a super powerful reconnaissance unit with 14 tanks, 56 tanks and 9 mortars.
When encountering the enemy's reconnaissance company or even the forward cavalry battalion, it is possible to rush forward and start working without saying a word. In the same way, this assault reconnaissance battalion of our army will also greatly increase the number of UAVs and unmanned combat vehicles, and each company should also have an unmanned combat vehicle reconnaissance platoon and reconnaissance UAVs.
5.Increase the number of combat sappers
In addition to the reconnaissance battalion, our original combat support battalion should also correspondingly increase its field combat capability. It would be preferable to add two additional combat engineer companies β the two remaining companies of the 4th Composite Battalion and the Reconnaissance Battalion β as the United States Army has done, for a total of 28 infantry fighting vehicles with bulldozers and mine-clearing plows.
In addition to the engineering company equipped with mine-sweeping rocket artillery, battlefield excavators, and bridge-erecting vehicles, the anti-chemical company equipped with thermobaric bombs and rocket artillery and various nuclear, biological, and chemical equipment, the electronic countermeasures company equipped with a lot of jamming equipment, and the intelligence processing company equipped with a large amount of high-tech equipment, the combat effectiveness of this battalion is actually equivalent to that of an infantry battalion reinforced with rocket artillery. Not to mention anything else, just the salvo of mine-sweeping rocket artillery and thermobaric rocket artillery can basically clean up the entire front line.
6.Reinforcement of artillery units
In fact, the most criticized thing about our synthetic brigade is the downsizing of the artillery unit. In the past, the motorized infantry brigade of our army had a 54-gun artillery regiment, and the motorized infantry division had 18 guns of the regimental artillery battalion in addition to the 54-72 guns of the divisional artillery regiment. However, our army's current composite brigade has only 27 122 howitzers and 9 122 rocket launchers, plus only 60 120 mortars of the battalion artillery company, and the number has been reduced a lot.
In the future, the artillery battalion can be expanded to include four 122 artillery batteries of nine guns (an average of one artillery company per battalion) and one company of nine rocket artillery batteries, for a total of 45 guns. In addition, the size of each of the four battalion artillery batteries could be increased to nine, for a total of 36 120 mortars. And each mortar should be equipped with a reconnaissance and calibration drone that can throw 120 mortar shells. In this way, the brigade has 122 howitzers, 36 122 rocket artillery, 120 mortars and 36 mortars, and a total of 81 artillery pieces of various types.
7.Strengthening air defense, especially anti-drone forces
After the increase in the number of unmanned aerial vehicles and cruise missiles on the battlefield, what needs to be considered is how to increase air defense. The current air defense battalions are insufficient, and the capabilities of anti-drone swarms are even worse. So it was necessary to significantly strengthen the accompanying field air defense, in particular, to strengthen the 25 30-mm multi-barreled Gatling anti-aircraft guns. Such as the FK3000 and 625 guns such as short-range air defense**, which need to be quickly and comprehensively reequipped.
And in terms of numbers, it is best to ensure that the four combat battalions in the front can have a field air defense company playing parachutes. The original individual missile launching companies were dispersed to the various combat battalions. In addition to this, develop and equip the new 35 25 127. Multi-barrel air defense ** and multi-joint air defense missiles, and even equip some high-power lasers **, that is very necessary.
8.Specialization of logistics support
In terms of material support, each battalion of the original needs to set up a support company to provide material support at the battalion level. For some large material consumers, special companies should be set up in the battalion, such as oil support companies, ammunition support companies, material support companies, and other departments for unified management. In addition, there should also be a corresponding ** maintenance company, vehicle maintenance company, transport company, brigade hospital and so on.
All in all, the logistical support should be sufficient, and it is best to correspond one-to-one with the relevant departments of each battalion. As to whether it is necessary to draw forces from various units to form several front-line support companies to be responsible for the logistics support of each battalion as the US military has done, it is a matter of opinion. Personally, I think that at the current stage, it is better for each battalion to provide separate support, and then it is better for the logistics support battalion to manage it in a unified manner.
9.Expand the headquarters
After all kinds of equipment have been greatly substantiated, it is necessary to expand the units directly under the command headquarters and correspondingly increase the number of commanders. First of all, it is necessary to set up a special battalion headquarters company, increase the size of the battalion headquarters personnel, and strengthen the functions of the battalion staff department, appoint the battalion chief of staff (chief staff officer) and various specialized staff officers, and increase the number of deputies. In particular, it should be pointed out that the battalion headquarters needs to set up a special command combat platoon, equipped with tanks 2, infantry fighting vehicles 2, unmanned combat vehicles 4, and unmanned aerial vehicles 4, which can not only act as the eyes of the battalion headquarters, but also allow the battalion commander to go into battle in person when necessary.
Similarly, it is also necessary to expand the brigade headquarters accordingly and directly manage the subordinate units such as the brigade headquarters company, the command and communications company, and the guard service company. The most critical thing is that a professional air situation command center needs to be established to command hundreds of UAVs of all kinds in the brigade in a unified manner, and to be responsible for air-ground coordination with superiors, as well as to command the field air defense tasks of the whole brigade.
In addition to the brigade headquarters, the reorganized composite brigade will have three composite battalions, one assault and reconnaissance battalion, one unmanned aerial vehicle battalion, one combat support battalion, one artillery battalion, one air defense battalion, and one logistics support battalion, totaling nine battalion-level unitsγOn average, each battalion-level unit has about 6-7 companies under its jurisdiction.
When neededThe brigade can be composed of three composite battalions, one assault reconnaissance battalion, and one combat support battalion (combat engineer battalion) as the main body, and each reinforced with an artillery company (the combat support battalion strengthens the 122 rocket artillery company), an unmanned aerial vehicle company, an air defense company, and a front-line support company, forming five relatively independent combat groups.
This kind of combat group, with a composite battalion as the main body, can be at the deputy regimental level in peacetime, and can be rapidly expanded to the regimental level in wartime. At that time, the composite brigade can be upgraded to the division level, with one division headquarters, three composite regiments, one assault reconnaissance regiment, one combat support regiment (industrial and chemical regiment), one artillery regiment, and one logistics support regiment.
Therefore, in the future, China's Army, that is, the group army's composite brigade combat group, which is the main establishment - when I wrote this, I suddenly found that this is not the original US Army's five-group atomic division? This went round and round, how did it finally turn back?
