After the end of World War II, the United States occupied the southern part of the Korean Peninsula with the 38th parallel as the boundary, while the northern part was occupied by the Soviet Union. After the outbreak of the Cold War in 1947, the situation in North Korea gradually evolved into two camps: the North and the South. Soon after, a civil war broke out between the North and the South, and the Korean army marched all the way south with great strength, and South Korea retreated one after another.
In order to turn the tide and achieve victory, the U.S. military quickly mobilized an aircraft carrier fleet, a large number of bombers, warplanes, artillery and elite troops to attack North Korea in an all-out way. After entering the battlefield, the United States United States showed strong combat effectiveness, quickly defeated the North Korean army, and seized the initiative in the war. However, the ambitions of the United States did not stop there, and they deliberately burned the flames of war to the Yalu River. Subsequently, the Chinese Volunteers joined the battlefield in October 1950 to support the Korean People's Army.
In the Battle of Seoul, although the KPA won the initial battle, it then encountered a strong counterattack by the puppet 7th Division of the ROK army, which led to a reversal of the situation. This was mainly due to the KPA's failure to develop a correct strategic plan, command errors, and lack of familiarity with the Seoul area. At the same time, the ROK army's defenses were also extremely strong, and the US military's air suppression put tremendous pressure on the KPA.
Although the KPA eventually achieved some victory in the war, it also paid a huge price. In the war, the KPA lacked a detailed strategic plan, mainly influenced by the news of the "Inchon landing", and at the same time constrained by the Soviet tactical model, which ultimately led to the defeat of the war.
The Korean War was a battle of great historical significance, and we should learn from it and cherish peace. In today's world, it is all the more important for us to resolve differences through cooperation and dialogue and jointly safeguard world peace and stability.
Which side do you think stood out more in the Korean War? Are there any lessons we can learn from today?
