At around 11 o'clock on December 28 last year, Mr. Li received a private message from a stranger in the United States. After a hot chat, the two sides added QQ to each other, and then Mr. Li added the person nicknamed "Jeffrey Wang" as a friend.
On the morning of January 6 this year, the other party sent a QQ message: "I am now running between Syria and China, engaged in the international shipping industry, and now on the way back to China, Syria was seized by the customs with a package with a gun." In case of emergency, fill this package with your information. Subsequently, a screenshot of the package information was sent to Mr. Li.
Just when Mr. Li was confused, the other party quickly recommended an account nicknamed "Mrs. Grace" to him (later changed to "shipping company"). After adding the account, the "shipping company" began to threaten and intimidate him with his personal information on the package: "If you don't pay, I will make sure you go to jail." "Never forget that the package is from the war zone"...When Mr. Li heard this, he was frightened on the spot. Subsequently, 8 transfers were made according to the account provided by the other party, totaling 940,000 yuan.
Swindle. After the transfer was completed, Mr. Li contacted "Jeffrey Wang" and said that he had helped solve the problem and asked him to return 940,000 yuan. "Jeffrey Wang" begged: "All my money is in that package, that package is my life and future, please help me!".He asked Mr. Li to pay the balance of 20,000 yuan so that the "shipping company" could release the package and receive it normally.
The continuous increase in transfer requirements made Mr. Li realize that he may have been the victim of online fraud. So, immediately stop the transfer and call the police.
When the police asked Mr. Li why there was his personal information on the package, Mr. Li said that he wanted to make a foreign friend at that time, so he agreed to help him sign for the overseas express delivery temporarily. As for the transfer, I didn't think too much about it for a while, and I accidentally fell into the trap of fraud.
