Lebanese Allah recently fired 62 missiles at the Mellon Air Force observation post in Israel, an incident that has caused great concern in the region. Located on the summit of Mount Mellon, the first mountain in northern Israel, the Mellon base is one of Israel's two major military bases, and it serves as a control, surveillance, and air command center. The motive for the fierce attack on the Mellon base by Allah in Lebanon is threefold. First, Allah leader Nasrallah said the action was to put pressure on the Gaza to stop its assault on Gaza.
Second, in order to avoid Lebanon becoming a second Gaza, Nasrallah said that if Israel wins in Gaza, it will move to southern Lebanon. Third, in an attempt to "take revenge" for the death of Ali, vice chairman of the Hamas ** committee, the Israeli army bombed Beirut, Lebanon, on January 2, resulting in the death of seven people, including Ali. However, despite this, the Lebanese attack on the Israeli army's Mellon base was actually trying to draw Israel into the war as a way to create a dilemma for the United States in the Middle East.
On January 1, Israel announced the withdrawal of its troops from the Gaza Strip, which was seen as a period of relative calm in the Israeli-Palestinian war and an opportunity for the United States to withdraw. However, Lebanon, of course, did not want the United States to withdraw from the Middle East, so it launched a fierce attack on important Israeli bases in the north. Although Allah and Hamas in Lebanon are relatively weak enough to destabilize the United States and Israel, the Iraqi army's frequent attacks on US military bases, the Houthis' continued attacks on Red Sea ships, and Iranian frigates have entered the Red Sea to support the Houthis, all of which are aimed at keeping tensions in the Middle East and exhausting the United States.
However, while these strategic actions have brought tension and turmoil to the Middle East to a certain extent, Israeli Defense Minister Gallant said on the evening of January 5 that "we want a negotiated solution," but Israel also said that "there is no other option." This indicates that plans for a full-scale military operation in the north are being developed, "we can only launch a large-scale military operation against Allah in the Lebanese region", "our time is running out". Biden claimed that their decision was aimed at dealing with regional disputes that are more widespread and protracted in the European Union, as well as in response to the spread of war in the Middle East.
In other words, although Israel "does not want to fight" now, Allah and Hamas will continue to put pressure on Israel to act. Iran and its "apprentice" Houthi group, as well as anti-American forces in the Middle East, are constantly harassing the Red Sea route and attacking American bases in the Middle East, so the United States must be prepared for war in the Middle East. Therefore, the United States is in a predicament in the Middle East, which is undoubtedly good news for China and Russia.
