Rapoo's excavation of the potential of VT9 molds is no less than that of the previous Dayou Wrangler, and Rapoo launched a new product VT9AIR before the Spring Festival. To recap, this is the third VT9 series since I came into contact with the VT9 Pro in August '23, and it is also the 4th family product since the release of the VT9 in January '23, and the current family product line should be VT9, VT9 Pro, VT9 Pro Mini, VT9 Air. Then why do I want to start, there is no other reason, it is because this mouse is good-looking.
The mouse continues the mold of the VT9, which looks small, beautiful and concise, and has smooth lines.
The biggest innovation of the mouse is the transparent upper cover. I have seen the transparent shell applied to a mechanical keyboard, but it is the first time to use it on a mouse. Although the appearance of the mouse is semi-black, it is mainly affected by the black of the chassis. It also has a lilac and light blue appearance to choose from, I think those two looks are more fashionable and fairy, and more suitable for Air's product positioning.
This transparent shell is not fully transparent, but semi-transparent with a bit of frosting, so the inside of the mouse can not be seen at a glance, only the red under the left button, the yellow of the tail and the reflection of the metal can be seen dimly, but it adds a sense of mystery to the mouse.
In addition, through the upper cover, you can directly see the ribs on the reverse side, such as the key stiffener and the stiffener on the back, and the dots and lines they map form a decorative pattern similar to the circuit pattern, adding an ultra-modern sci-fi feeling to the mouse.
The biggest regret of the mouse is that it doesn't have a backlight. In the past, products with matte shells, such as keyboards, would be backlit to make the greatest use of the advantages of transparent shells, but VT9 Air did not have a backlight, wasting such wonderful materials as a translucent shell.
In addition to the mouse has a beautiful skin, the inner soul is also interesting. The first thing to talk about is its high rate of return,Now the high-end mouse after the volume of DPI,Begin to roll other performance,The first thing to bear the brunt of the recent is the rate of return,VT9 Air supports 8K rate of return in wired mode,Support 4K rate of return in wireless mode。 At a high rate of return, the mouse communicates more frequently with the computer, and the mouse moves more precisely, which I think is especially useful in FPS games.
Compared with Rapoo's previous products, the biggest improvement of the VT9 Air this time is the shrinking of the receiver. The previous 4K receiver is similar in size to a USB flash drive, just like the appearance of a wireless receiver when it was first born, the volume is too large to carry, and you have to buy it separately, but this time, the 4K receiver is reduced to a nano receiver, which is directly stored in the mouse, and comes with it when it leaves the factory. In fact, in the previous review, I had a hunch that the direction of the receiver development will definitely be like this.
The receiver has become smaller, but the power display function is still retained and more powerful, the user can judge the mouse status such as the code and battery level through the color of the indicator light on the receiver, and the color of the light will change from green to orange to red according to the percentage of the mouse's remaining power.
Compared with the previous VT9 Pro, the VT9 Air is reloaded with C+ detachable button preload adjustment technology. From the selling points of the official announcement, such as what to adjust the feel by yourself, DIY playability, and independently adjust the feel of the buttons, I think it should be more useful for users with strong hands-on ability. However, the VT9 Air I have on hand does have a different left and right micro touch, the left button is relatively crisp, and the right button is relatively soft.
The red button located on the chassis is the DIY key, which can be set to some less frequent but more important functions, and the factory default rate of return can be switched. I think this function is very practical, because although the current mouse in addition to the left and right buttons, there are 2 DPI buttons and 2 left buttons, theoretically through the custom function of the driver to change their function, but long-term use habits make their function basically solidified, at this time an additional DIY button can further expand the mouse function.
The mouse is a wired and wireless dual-mode product. The wireless mode is 24hgz,In this mode,I pay more attention to the battery life of the product,The mouse comes with800mAh lithium battery,With the blessing of Rapoo V+Wireless wireless gaming technology and Realtek Realtek low-power chip,The battery life has reached 180 hours,20H more than the previous Rapoo product160H。 As for the other delays, wireless connection distance, in this kind of high-end products, there will not be too many problems to affect the use, especially it has on-board antennas, adaptive signal enhancement, frequency conversion gear adjustment and other technologies.
Moreover, Rapoo VT9 Air still retains the hidden Bluetooth function, which is a surprise for users who really need Bluetooth function. (Bluetooth opening method attached: press the middle button of the scroll wheel + the left bilateral button for 3 seconds at the same time, which is to turn on and off Bluetooth; Press the left mouse button + middle button + right button + right button at the same time for 3 seconds to turn on the pairing mode of Bluetooth. )
As for the other functions of the mouse, given that the current mid-to-high-end mice are excellent or even overperforming, I don't care much about this aspect. For example, the VT9 Air's optical engine uses PixArt Custom 3398, with 11 levels of silent height adjustment, up to 26000 DPI, which I don't use every day, let alone 650IPS tracking speed, 50G acceleration and other parameters.
Although the upper cover of the mouse looks like a frosted texture, it is not rough to the touch, nor is it as smooth as plastic, and the overall feel is acceptable, not abrupt compared with other mice. The waist in the middle of the mouse gives the gripper a good point of force.
The three-dimensional size of the mouse is 120*657*37.5mm, in fact, this is the size of the previous VT9 mini, it can be said that it was changed on the mold of VT9 mini, and the edge design on the right button is the same, but the bottom storage compartment has changed. Therefore, the feel of the mouse is almost like VT9 Pro Mini, which is suitable for people with small and medium-sized hands.
The mouse is extremely lightweight, weighing only about 60g, which is about 6g lighter than the previous VT9 Pro mini. To sum up, the mouse is quite comfortable for me to use, the keys are crisp, the movement is light, the carrying is simple, and the upper cover has a good oil-repellent effect. After 2 months of use, my sweaty hands have hardly left oil stains on the mouse.
Compared with other products in the VT9 family, the VT9 Air has a more fashionable appearance, a lighter receiver from the factory, longer battery life, and lighter weight, while maintaining the strong and rich performance of the family products, such as wired and wireless dual-mode and hidden Bluetooth Easter eggs, and the highest 26000dpi brought by PixArt Custom 3398. Electronics are not old when they are new, and this is confirmed once again on the VT9 Air.
