Wang Zhiheng's new appointment means that the party secretary and chairman of Everbright Bank are no longer held by the same person, but have become the "one shoulder" model of party secretary and president. It's the same as China Merchants Bank.
Everbright Bank was previously the secretary and chairman of the board
For a long time, the post of party secretary of China Everbright Bank has been "shouldered" by the chairman of the bank. In May 2023, Wang Jiang, former Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Everbright Group and former Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Everbright Bank, attended the unveiling ceremony of the State Administration of Financial Supervision and Administration as the Deputy Director in charge of daily work of the Office of the Financial Commission. Since then, Wang Jiang has stepped down from his positions in Everbright Group and Everbright Bank.
Judging from the current situation, the positions of chairman of the board of directors and secretary of the party committee of Everbright Bank have been taken over by Wu Lijun and Wang Zhiheng respectively.
In November 2023, China Everbright Bank announced that Wang Jiang, chairman of the bank, had resigned from all positions in the bank due to work adjustments. At the same time, the board of directors of the bank agreed to elect Wu Lijun as the chairman of the ninth board of directors of the bank, and Wu Lijun's position as chairman of the board of directors will take effect from the date on which his qualifications are approved by the State Administration of Financial Supervision and Administration.
Wu Lijun is currently the Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Everbright Group. Wang Zhiheng is an experienced veteran in the banking industry, having served as Deputy Governor of the Bank of China. According to his resume, Wang Zhiheng was born in June 1973 and has worked in Bank of China for a long time, successively serving as Deputy Director of the Corporate Planning Division and Head of the Human Resources Department of the Corporate Business Department of the Bank of China, Deputy General Manager of the Human Resources Department, Member of the Party Committee and Vice President of the Guangdong Branch of the Bank of China, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the Qinghai Branch, Director of the Organization Department of the Party Committee and General Manager of the Human Resources Department of the Bank of China, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the Beijing Branch of the Bank of China, Member of the Party Committee and Vice President of the Bank of China.
In December 2022, Wang Zhiheng was transferred to Everbright Group and served as a member of the Party Committee of Everbright Group and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Everbright Bank. Since March 2023, Wang Zhiheng has been appointed as President and Executive Director of Everbright Bank, and since December 2023, he has been appointed as Secretary of the Party Committee of Everbright Bank. At present, the chairman of China Merchants Bank is Miao Jianmin, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of China Merchants Group, and Wang Liang is the Secretary of the Party Committee and President of China Merchants Bank. Miao Jianmin said in 2022 that although the president of China Merchants Bank has changed, corporate governance will not change, and the board of directors' support for China Merchants Bank will not change. Previously, the Party Committee of Ping An of China appointed Ji Guangheng as Secretary of the Party Committee of Ping An Bank, and Xie Yonglin, General Manager and Co-CEO of Ping An Bank and Chairman of Ping An Bank, no longer concurrently served as Secretary of the Party Committee of the bank.
In November 2023, Ji Guangheng's qualifications for the position of president were approved by the regulators, and Ping An Bank also realized the "one shoulder" model of party secretary and president.
