According to Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, February 22 -- The China Wildlife Conservation Association recently reached an agreement with the Madrid Zoo in Spain and the San Diego Zoo in the United States on the international conservation cooperation of the new panda and signed a cooperation agreement. Consultations are underway with the National Zoo in Washington, D.C., and Schönbrunn Zoo in Austria.

With the joint efforts of scientific researchers, China, Spain, the United States and Austria have bred a total of 28 live cubs, making positive contributions to the conservation and breeding of giant pandas. Based on the good basic conditions for cooperation and the common wishes of the people for the protection of endangered species, a new cooperative research on panda conservation is about to begin.
The new round of collaborative research will focus on the prevention and control of major diseases of giant pandas, the protection of giant panda habitats and wild populations, improve the investigation and monitoring capabilities, and contribute to the construction of China's giant panda national parks. Actively build an international academic exchange platform to promote cooperation and exchanges in the conservation of flagship species and umbrella species; Promote people-to-people exchanges between China and foreign countries, and enhance the friendly feelings between Chinese and foreign peoples.
Ensuring the healthy and safe life of giant pandas abroad is the most important premise and foundation for international cooperation. The relevant person in charge of the China Wildlife Conservation Association said that in 2024, the daily health monitoring and physical examination of giant pandas abroad will be further strengthened to ensure full coverage of the annual on-site inspection and evaluation of giant pandas abroad. For giant pandas whose health is unstable, Chinese experts will stay behind to take care of them; For major matters related to giant panda breeding, rearing, diseases**, etc., Chinese experts will provide full technical guidance and support.
The giant panda is a national treasure of China and is loved by people all over the world. Since the 90s of the 20th century, China has carried out cooperative research on conservation with 26 institutions in 20 countries, successfully bred 41 litters and 68 giant panda cubs, and achieved remarkable results in giant panda field protection, breeding and rearing, epidemic prevention and control, disease treatment, technical exchanges and public education, and jointly overcome a series of technical problems.
