In September 1948, the East China Field Army launched the Jinan Campaign, when the Jinan defense general was Wang Yaowu, graduated from the third phase of Huangpu, this person is a famous anti-Japanese general, and is also a rare member of the Kuomintang Smart General, and before that, our army except in the northeast battlefield, has never been in the enemy's strong defense of the central city for the main decisive battle, and this battle also for our army to seize the big city, laid a certain military foundation, especially the total annihilation of the Jinan defenders 1040,000 people captured Wang Yaowu alive. 
Although decades have passed in history, it seems to read as if it was still yesterday, our army has also paid a lot of price, even after entering the city of Jinan, it was still subjected to stragglers in street fighting, especially the attack on the defense of the enemy's headquarters, it was even more heavy, this building was originally a commercial building, the enemy took advantage of the natural geographical advantages, and resisted our army every step until it entered the building, the two sides were still constantly fighting, and the post-war inspection found that the soldiers defending the building had about 7 companies, None of them surrendered. 
In fact, as early as 1946, our army completely annihilated the 74th Division in the Battle of Menglianggu, but after the end of this battle, the Kuomintang Army then reorganized the 74th Division (later renamed the 74th Army). 
At the same time as the Battle of Menglianggu, although the reorganized 74th Division was completely annihilated, this unit had suffered losses in the Lianshui operation before, and a large number of cadres above the battalion and regiment were killed, so three new regiments were organized and trained in the rear, plus some wounded regiments, and the reorganized 74th Division was reorganized, the division commander was Qiu Weida, who was the deputy commander of the 57th Division under the 74th Army, and had been promoted to the chief of staff of the Fourth Front Army during the Anti-Japanese War, and was re-appointed as the commander of the 74th Army under the recommendation of Wang Yaowu. 
However, the fate of this army is shorter, Qiu Weida's 74th Army was once again annihilated by our army in the battle of Chenguanzhuang, and this time the 74th Army was completely annihilated, it was like chopping melons and vegetables, and it was not as difficult as Meng Lianggu in World War I, after the collapse of the army, Qiu Weida himself gave up ** surrender, because he surrendered on the battlefield, so Qiu Weida's fate was much better, and in early 1950, he was arranged to teach at East China Military and Political University. 
In fact, it can also be seen that at the time of the Jinan Campaign, the 74th Army should have completed its formation, and when Wang Yaowu was defending Jinan, he had asked Chiang Kai-shek to send the 74th Division to Jinan to assist in defending the city. 
As a result, only seven companies of the 74th Division were assisted in the defense. However, because these seven companies belonged to the veterans of the original 74th Army, they adhered to the principle of preferring to die in battle rather than surrender, and carried out stubborn resistance, which once made our army helpless and had to mobilize heavy artillery to bombard, and by the time it was completely defeated, the entire building had been smashed into an empty shelf, which showed the unprecedented tragic scene of this battle.
