The duration of the event is from February 2 to March 9 and is open to the public every night from 18:00 to 21:00.

Zigong lanterns are made of unique materials, such as porcelain tableware, glass bottles, silkworm cocoons, fine bamboo strips, tie-dyeing, silk, etc. Nowadays, the Zigong Lantern Festival combines traditional production techniques with modern science and technology, which is dizzying and presents a gorgeous and colorful appearance. In 2008, Zigong Lantern Society was included in the second batch of national intangible cultural heritage representative items.
