Recently, when I was identifying and collecting early spring flower materials, I found that the appearance of red plum blossoms and peach blossoms is similar in appearance, petals, branches, etc., and it is easy to confuse.
Although there is a bit of seasonal difference between red plum blossoms and peach blossoms, red plum blossoms bloom earlier than peach blossoms in winter and spring, but the flowering period of late-blooming red plum blossoms and early-maturing varieties of peach blossoms may also be at the same time; Although there are color differences, red plum blossoms have more flower colors, but red plum blossoms and peach blossoms have the same color; Although there is a huge difference in plant height, red plum trees can grow taller than peach trees, and they may be shorter than peach trees when encountering dwarf and young varieties of red plum trees. Of course, there are also differences such as the fragrance of flowers, the color of the trunk, etc., but the difference is not very obvious.
Fortunately, there are two most obvious differences between red plum blossoms and peach blossoms, and they are also the factors that can distinguish the two the most. Whether the flowers and leaves are at the same time is a big difference, the flowers and leaves of the red plum blossom are in different stages, and the leaves only grow after flowering; Peach blossoms, on the other hand, have flowers and leaves at the same time, and they begin to grow leaves when they bloom. There is a significant difference in the thickness of the petals, the red plum petals are thicker, about twice as thick as the peach blossoms, and the peach blossom petals are very thin and will roll up when the wind blows.
