If you have watched the animation manga or movie "Initial D", I believe that you are no stranger to Takumi Fujiwara's car Toyota Sprinter AE86 Trueno. During the Tokyo Motor Show last year, Toyota exhibited two new energy concept cars based on the classic AE86, one of which uses hydrogen instead of gasoline, and the other is a pure electric version, the latter is equipped with a clutch and shift lever, which is a manual transmission electric vehicle.
Many people were interested in Toyota's announcement of the two new energy AE86s last year, and Toyota decided to hold a test drive event so that the public could experience the all-electric version of the AE86. Curated by Kinto Share, a ride-sharing service under the Toyota Group, the program offers 13 time slots, with registration for the test drive event previously open and a lottery to select the lucky ones who can participate in the test drive. Each test drive session lasts 3 hours and costs 20,000 yen.
Toyota said that it would refer to the opinions of the test drive as a reference when developing the vehicle, but it is reported that the two new energy versions of the AE86 are concept cars developed by Toyota's GR division to achieve carbon neutrality goals and based on driving pleasure, and the possibility of mass production is not high.
