The marriage customs of the Tan people have their own characteristics. Most marriages are arranged by parents, and intermarriage is practiced, and no marriage is carried out with outsiders. When both boys and girls reach the age of 15-18, they can talk about marriage. When the man and the woman are interested in getting married, the parents of both parties set the date and dowry for the officiating marriage, and the process is roughly as follows:
1) The man asks the matchmaker to color the woman's object, or the woman gives her birthday to the matchmaker to the man's family. During the three days of marriage, as long as the man's family does not break the bowl, the parties can get married. Some have to go to the temple to ask for a sign before they can get engaged. This link is called marriage.
2) The man chooses the day and sends the dowry to the woman's house, which is called a set. The dowry includes four oceans, four teacups, several bags of tea, four bags of sesame seeds, and four betel nuts. The bride price will be negotiated and agreed. This part is called betrothal.
3) After the decision is made, the man's family will send part of the bride price to the woman's family. In addition, 2 packets of tea, 2 packs of white rice beans, 2 packets of guabis, 2 packets of sesame seeds, 100 sweet meat packets, 100 rooster cakes, 4 betel nuts, and 4 teacups will be given. This link is called the bride marriage, that is, the tea.
4) The man's family sends the dowry to the woman's house for the third time. The gift this time is only 2 packets of sesame seeds and 2 packets of tea, and this process is called tea.
5) The man chooses a good day to get married, writes it on a red post, and sends it to the woman's home. At the same time, the woman was given a number of sweet meat buns, cakes, a pig's knuckle, and 4 betel nuts. This link is called watching the sun.
6) Give the rest of the bride price to the woman's family, this process is called "complete employment". The dowry includes a few bags of tea, sesame seeds, 4 teacups, 4 betel nuts, a pair of gold earrings, and a number of dowries.
When men and women reach the age of marriage, relatives and friends of both men and women come early to row boats to help the fun, and residents on the nearby banks often crowd to the stream to watch the excitement. The man and woman docked the boat on the shore, and the bride to be married wore a set of festive red clothes, covered her head with a red hijab, cried in the cabin, and sang "Crying on the Wedding Boat" in a low voice to show her reluctance to give up her love for her mother's family.
When the good day comes, the bridegroom's wedding boat sails towards the bride's wedding boat. When the wedding master of ceremonies loudly announces "hugging the bride and getting married", the groom's wedding boat and the bride's wedding boat come closer to the bride's wedding boat so that the groom can get on the boat and hug the bride. At this time, the new relatives and friends propped up the boat together and stopped the groom's wedding boat with a penny. On both sides, you come and I block, it is very lively. In the midst of the bustle, the groom seized the opportunity to jump on the bride's boat, pick up the bride and leave. The bride's relatives and friends couldn't resist it, so they had to push the couple into the water and have a "fish in water". At this time, relatives and friends on both sides jumped into the water one after another, laughing and laughing with the bride and groom, so lively. At the climax, the in-laws of both men and women throw down the hard-boiled eggs dyed red for everyone to snatch, the so-called "dragons grab the pearls". When all the eggs were snatched up, the groom immediately hugged the bride, took the wedding boat, and worshipped.
