At the end of December 2022, Zhang Shijia, a police officer at the Nanping City Detention Center in Fujian Province, suddenly felt unwell and was diagnosed with terminal cancer after being rushed to the hospital. After battling the disease for 8 months, on August 24, 2023, Zhang Shijia passed away at the age of 28.
Since joining the work, Zhang Shijia has been awarded a personal third-class merit once, and has been rated as an outstanding civil servant twice.
"I'll go back to work when I'm well."
Zhang Shijia was born in a rural family in Yangkeng Village, Dazhu Town, Shaowu City. From primary school to middle school, she consistently ranked at the top of her grades. In 2012, she was admitted to Fujian Institute of Technology with excellent grades and became a college student. In his freshman year, his father, who was seriously ill, died due to ineffective medical treatment. In the days that followed, Zhang Shijia studied hard while working and studying. During her college years, she won scholarships every year, won the titles of outstanding student cadre and outstanding Communist Youth League member many times, and successively served as the secretary of the class party branch and the deputy secretary of the college Youth League Committee.
In 2016, after graduating from university, Zhang Shijia passed the civil service examination and became a glorious people's policeman, and was assigned to work in the Nanping City Detention Center. She was initially assigned to a logistics position. To do a good job in logistics support work, we must not only be diligent and willing to work, but also have enough care and patience. In March 2017, the Nanping City Detention Center moved to a new location, making the security work even more onerous. Zhang Shijia takes everything as her home and fights day and night at work. She handled procurement affairs during the day, worked overtime at night to sort out the accounts, and ran from both ends of the bureau to take care of the logistics of the detention center in an orderly manner.
New police officer Li Yannan was arranged to follow Zhang Shijia to learn to do financial work. Zhang Shijia patiently taught Li Yannan the "know-how" of work: "To do financial work, the most important thing is to be careful enough. Later, when Zhang Shijia adjusted her position and the two handed over the financial work, Li Yannan felt Zhang Shijia's seriousness more deeply. At the end of December 2022, Zhang Shijia, who was on duty in the prison area, suddenly felt unwell, and the leader of the shift immediately sent her to the hospital after discovering the situation**, and Zhang Shijia was diagnosed with terminal cancer. When the leaders of the Nanping City Public Security Bureau went to visit, Zhang Shijia was still very optimistic, lying on the hospital bed and saying: "When I get better, I will go back to work in the detention center." The colleagues and family members present couldn't help but reddened their eyes when they heard this.
Emotionalize detainees with heart

After Zhang Shijia adjusted her emotions, she regrouped under the guidance of Yang Juan, faced the two detainees again, and used legal principles to explain things, and finally resolved the conflict between the two.
