Who stuck the neck of a traditional Chinese car

The barrier to the rise of our domestic cars has never been technology, it should be said that no company is stuck in the neck of our cars, why we have not been able to get up in the traditional automobile manufacturing industry?

Although there are many reasons, buying foreign technology or developing technology by yourself is a reason, but the real bottleneck of the traditional automotive industry is actually the ability of "first-class business management".

Many people think that the poor product quality is due to the poor assembly quality of the main engine factory, but in fact, the main engine factory is wrong.

Most of today's product quality problems have nothing to do with the final assembly plant, and most of the quality problems we see come from the accessories chain.

Although Toyota's cars do not have so many technological configurations, they are very strict in the management of the accessories chain, and even 80% of the accessories are managed by Toyota itself.

So far, all the parts suppliers of GAC Toyota are still 80% of Toyota's own shares, and the remaining 20% are managed by Toyota, in order to control the quality of the configuration chain.

In China, most of the top chains of traditional automobile companies are driven by "nepotism", and the quality cannot be controlled. With the rise of private automobile enterprises, the "nepotism" industrial chain has been curbed, but how to manage the accessories industry chain is also a blind spot.

For example, before Wang Fengying, Xiaopeng Motors had a mess in terms of operating cost control, and with the arrival of Wang Fengying, Xiaopeng Motors entered a virtuous circle. This is also because of the experience brought by Wang Fengying's decades of experience in Great Wall Motors.

The common fault complaints of our domestic cars "engine shake, oil leakage" and so on are likely to be caused by a small rubber pad, and this rubber pad is not produced by the main engine factory itself, but provided by the first chain.

Due to the intricate relationship between the traditional auto parts chain, it is difficult to sort out, so the new car-making forces based on intelligent electrification have opportunities.

Because smart electrified vehicles avoid most of the traditional industrial chain, digital technologies such as batteries, motors, chips, and screens are introduced into the automotive industry chain, making the product quality problems lower than those of the traditional automotive industry.

Taking Li Auto as an example, although it was scolded as a "refrigerator color TV sofa" with no technical content, it surpassed all "technology-based car companies" in the 2023 failure rate ranking, and the quality complaints were the least in almost every quarter, as low as about 2/10,000.

Therefore, no matter how much technology content Li Auto has, it is indeed stronger than most car companies in terms of parts management.

Coincidentally, the same is true for NIO, whose foundry is JAC. With the same assembly line, JAC's own products appear to be shoddy, but the NIO cars produced are exquisite and luxurious.

There has always been a legend in the rivers and lakes that the machines on the JAC assembly line are more advanced than the Porsche factory, and many people still don't believe it. In fact, most of China's OEMs have more advanced assembly lines than Porsche factories.

Because the leadership thinking of many OEMs is the same as that of ordinary people, they think that they can build advanced cars by buying advanced assembly lines, but things backfire, management can't keep up, and no matter how many top assembly lines you introduce, you can't produce qualified cars.
