Northwest University's 2024 doctoral enrollment adopts three enrollment methods: direct undergraduate study for doctoral degree (hereinafter referred to as "direct doctoral degree"), master's and doctoral continuous study, and "application-assessment system".
1. Majors and numbers of students
For details of Northwest University's 2024 doctoral programs, enrollment numbers and supervisors, please refer to the 2024 Doctoral Enrollment Program Catalog of Northwest University. In principle, the admission ratio of in-service directional candidates shall not exceed 20% of the number of students to be enrolled, the proportion of direct doctoral students shall not exceed 20% of the number of students to be enrolled, and the proportion of admission to the "application-assessment system" shall not be less than 20% of the number of students to be enrolled.
2. "Direct Doctorate" enrollment
According to the relevant regulations of the Ministry of Education on graduate student enrollment, Northwest University accepts national outstanding fresh undergraduate graduates as direct doctoral students by recommending exemption from examination, please refer to the Regulations of Northwest University for 2024 Acceptance of Recommended Graduate Students (Including Direct Doctoral Students) by recommending exemption from examination.
3. Enrollment of "Master's and Doctor's Degree Programs".
The enrollment target of "Master's and Doctor's Degree Continuous" is Northwest University's outstanding graduate students, and the registration and related requirements can be found in the "Notice of Northwest University's 2024 "Master's and Doctor's Degree Continuous" Graduate Student Selection".
4. "Application-assessment system" enrollment
(1) Qualifications
1.Basic conditions
Citizens of the People's Republic of China, support the leadership of the Communist Party of China, have the correct political direction, love the motherland, are willing to serve the socialist modernization drive, abide by discipline and law, and have good conduct.
Those who have obtained a master's degree or a recent master's degree graduate (must obtain a master's degree before enrollment at the latest) or a person who has obtained a bachelor's degree for more than 6 years (including 6 years, counting from the date of obtaining a bachelor's degree to the date of admission of doctoral students) and has reached the same academic ability as a master's graduate.
The physical and mental health conditions meet the relevant physical examination requirements stipulated by the state.
There are written recommendations from two professors (or experts with equivalent professional and technical titles) in the subject of specialization.
Those who apply for the examination with the same academic ability must work in a position similar to the major they want to apply for six years or more after obtaining a bachelor's degreeAt the same time, one of the following conditions must be met:
First, students who have studied the master's degree program of the major they applied for and obtained the certificate of completion have worked for two years, and have published 2 academic articles related to the applied major in the core journals recognized by Northwest University as the first author in the past 3 years
Second, have the title of associate senior or above, and have published 2 academic articles related to the major in the core journals recognized by Northwest University as the first author in the past 3 years
The third is to obtain the provincial and ministerial second-class and above scientific research achievements related to the major applied for (the first prize ranks the top 3, the second prize ranks the top 2).
Other requirements set forth in the "Application Assessment System" Enrollment Measures for Faculties and Departments (see Annex 2 below).
(2) Online registration and qualification review
1.Online registration
Registration Period:January 5 - February 29, 2024
Log in to the China Graduate Admissions Information Network (for online information registration and registration and payment.) Once the payment is successful, the registration fee is non-refundable. Applicants should carefully check their online registration information. All consequences caused by the applicant's filling in errors shall be borne by the applicant.
2.Confirmation of registration
It mainly reviews the completeness and standardization of candidates' basic registration conditions, application information and registration materials.
(1) Confirm the target
Candidates who apply for the 2024 doctoral program of Northwest University on the China Graduate Admissions Information Network and complete the payment. Those who have not paid the fee will not be eligible to apply for the examination and will not be confirmed.
(2) How and when to confirm
Candidates are required to bind the required materials into a book in the order listed below and mail them to the departments and institutes of the application institute before February 29, 2024 (see Appendix 3 below for the mailing address). As a general rule, applications sent after February 29 will not be accepted. In special cases, the mailing number shall prevail.
(3) Confirmation of the announcement of the results
In mid-March, the registration confirmation results will be publicized through the Northwest University Graduate Enrollment Information Network, and only those who pass can enter the follow-up qualification review and comprehensive assessment.

Copies of bachelor's and master's degree certificates and bachelor's and graduate graduation certificatesAll candidates should complete the verification of student status (academic qualifications) and provide materials such as the Electronic Registration and Filing Form for Academic Certificates of the Ministry of Education or the Report on the Authentication of Higher Education Qualifications in China or the Certificate of Recognition of Foreign Academic Qualifications (only for overseas academic qualifications).

Other materials required by the department (see Appendix 2 below), such as the "Review Form for Supervisor's Opinions for Doctoral Applicants in Northwest University" and so on.

The above items are necessary materials for the preliminary examination of school qualifications, and the original is for reference, and at the same time, please prepare electronic materials and paper materials in the order listed above. The electronic version (PDF synthesis file) needs to be uploaded in the "Fill in Additional Information" section during online registrationThe paper version should be mailed to the department or institute at the specified time. 3.Eligibility review
Each department will organize experts to review and evaluate the materials of those who have passed the preliminary examination. According to the results of material evaluation, the department selects a certain proportion of candidates to enter the comprehensive assessment link, and the specific proportion is set by the department itself.
(3) Comprehensive assessment
The comprehensive assessment is organized by the doctoral enrollment working group of the department, and is generally conducted around April. For the specific assessment process and requirements, please refer to the "application-assessment system" enrollment work method and assessment re-examination work plan of each department. Those who apply for the examination with the same academic ability must also take an additional test (written test) of ideological and political theory (liberal arts: theory and practice of scientific socialism;Science and Engineering: Dialectics of Nature) and two core courses for a master's degree in this specialty.
The written test (including the same academic ability additional test), interview, material review, ideological and moral assessment, etc., involved in the comprehensive assessment are all scored on a 100-point system or converted into a 100-point system, with 60 points being passed, and those who fail any one will not be admitted.
(4) Admission
Each department proposes a list of proposed admissions according to the assessment results, and after the school reviews and publicizes no objections, it will be submitted to the higher authorities for admission inspection. After passing the admission inspection of the higher authority, the admission will be officially admitted and the admission notice will be issued.
5. Physical examination
All admitted freshmen are required to take a physical examination, and those who fail to pass the physical examination will be disqualified. The physical examination will be carried out uniformly at the time of admission of new students, and the specific time will be notified separately.
6. Duration and length of study
(a).The basic duration of doctoral students is 3 years, including 4 years in mathematics, statistics, ecology, Chinese history, world history, history of science and technology, and chemical engineering and technology
(2) The duration of study at the doctoral level for master's and doctoral students is as follows:
First-year master's selection: 4 years or 5 years, i.e. basic duration + 1 year;
Master.
Selection for the second and third grades: 3 or 4 years, that is, the basic school system.
(c).Undergraduate students directly pursue doctoral degrees, and the duration of postgraduate studies is generally 5 years;
The maximum study period for all types of doctoral students is 7 years (including suspension), which can be found in the Regulations on the Management of Graduate Student Status of Northwest University.
7. Tuition fees and scholarships
Doctoral students enrolled in Northwest University are all full-time, within the basic academic system, and the tuition standard is 10,000 yuan per student per yearThe academic scholarship shall be implemented in accordance with the "Administrative Measures for Graduate Academic Scholarship of Northwest University" (Xida Yan 2022 No. 23);The bursary is implemented according to the national bursary standard, which is 13,000 yuan per student per yearThe selection methods and award criteria for social scholarships and grants shall be implemented in accordance with the agreement signed between the awarding unit or individual and Northwest University and the relevant regulations of the university.
8. Shifting
Doctoral students who are admitted for full-time non-directed employment should transfer their personnel files to Northwest University before admission, and the university will not go through the relevant procedures after admission.
9. Handling of violations
If there is any violation or fraud in the enrollment assessment of doctoral students, once it is verified, the university will seriously deal with it in accordance with the Measures for Handling Violations in the National Education Examination and relevant regulations. For students who are in school, their schools will be notified, and their schools will give sanctions in accordance with relevant regulations, up to expulsionFor in-service candidates, the candidate's unit will be notified, and the candidate's unit will give party discipline or political discipline sanctions according to the circumstances. where a violation is constituted, the judicial organs shall pursue legal responsibility in accordance with law, and where a crime is constituted, criminal responsibility shall be pursued in accordance with law.
It is strictly forbidden for any department or staff within the school to hold or participate in the holding of examination and enrollment counseling activities, and students in school are not allowed to hold or participate in illegal activities related to examinations such as cheating and false publicity. If there are immediate family members or interested parties who apply for the doctoral program in the current year, they shall avoid the corresponding enrollment work. Those who violate the regulations will be held accountable by the relevant departments and relevant personnel.
10. Information disclosure and supervision
1) In accordance with the principle of "openness, fairness and impartiality", the Graduate School and the department will publish the relevant instructions, assessment procedures, re-examination list and proposed admission list of doctoral students.
2) The Graduate Admissions Office and the relevant departments of the University supervise the enrollment of graduate students in each department throughout the process. For disputes over the admissions process, applicants can appeal to the Doctoral Admissions Working Group of the Admissions DepartmentIf there is still a dispute, you can file a complaint with the Office of Graduate Admissions at Northwestern University.
