The reporter learned from the China South-to-North Water Diversion Group that the first major project of the follow-up project of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project - the project of diverting the river to supplement the Han River has recently entered the stage of full construction.

In the past two days, the No. 8 flat tunnel of the water conveyance tunnel of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project in Maliang Town, Baokang County, Xiangyang City, Hubei Province, is undergoing construction work.

As one of the deepest sections of the main tunnel of the Yangtze River Replenishment Project, the No. 8 flat tunnel has been drilled and excavated for more than 200 meters, and the hard rock tunnel boring machine can be completed by the end of the year.

As the longest single tunnel with the longest length, the largest tunnel diameter and the highest comprehensive difficulty among the long-distance pressure diversion tunnels under construction in China, the project diverts water from the Three Gorges Reservoir area of the Yangtze River to the Anle River estuary in the downstream of the Danjiangkou Reservoir of the Hanjiang River. The total length of the water transmission line is 1947 kilometers, the average water diversion for many years is 3.9 billion cubic meters, the total construction period of the project is 108 months, and the total static investment of the project is 5515.8 billion yuan.

After the completion of the project, the Three Gorges Reservoir and the Danjiangkou Reservoir will be "hand-in-hand" in the air, which can effectively improve the water resources allocation capacity of the Hanjiang River basin and increase the amount of water transferred to the north in the middle route of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project.
