There is such a consumer electronics brand, they do not sell in the Chinese market, but its name is heard by many Chinese people, and even regarded as a certain degree of "domestic pride".
At the same time, it is also this brand, and their product line is "all-inclusive", from mobile phones to computers, from smart home appliances to TWS headphones and smart watches.
In the same way, during 2023, the products were sold in more than 70 countries and regions around the world, including a 207% increase in the Caribbean and Latin America, a 192% increase in Eastern Europe, and a 148% increase in Southeast Asia.
And this brand is tecno. Of course, perhaps more familiar to friends is their parent company, Transsion Holdings.
During MWC24 (Mobile World Congress) in Barcelona, Spain, we were able to get up close and personal with many of Tecno's new products and technologies, and thus unveiled the secret of the success of this Chinese technology brand focused on overseas markets.
From large models to AI images, Tecno's technology is quite high
First of all, we would like to say that the "technical power" of tecno may be much higher than many friends think.
On February 27, 2024, Tecno unveiled their "Tecno AI" at a launch event held during MWC. Judging by the features demonstrated live, it can be said to encompass almost all of the large models and generative AI-related functions that we now know on smartphones.
For example, it supports AI drawing, users can use language to let AI draw (Wensheng diagram), can redraw ** style (Tusheng diagram), and even use a few simple sketches to let AI "complete" it.
Of course, it also supports continuous AI conversations, real-time translation of social **, as well as voice in **, and generates subtitles, and supports real-time translation of calls.
In addition, Tecno AI can also summarize the content of the article, realize the "face change" and "change the background" of the meeting, and support one-click cutout and erase passers-by in the meeting. It can even work on your phone's camera algorithms and add more detail to portrait shots with generative AI.
There is no doubt that Tecno AI is the "culmination" of all the known AI functions in smartphones. But TECNO has many other unique technological achievements in addition to this.
For example, TECNO has their own set of imaging software and hardware technologies, including liquid variable lenses, mass-produced motorized telescopic lenses, the industry's only RGBW rear main camera, and the industry's only skin tone swatch and intelligent skin tone recognition algorithm jointly developed with the University of Leeds.
Even the enthusiasm of tecno in technical cooperation with the industry is not worse than that of those domestic brands that everyone is familiar with. At this press conference, Tecno announced its cooperation with Sony, using Sony's latest light metaphor sensor, and also adapting Sony's image processing chip (independent ISP).
In addition, with the close cooperation with MediaTek, Tecno has also achieved the industry's first 4K30FPS full-scene AI noise reduction HDR** shooting function on smartphones.
To make a flagship experience with low **, tecno dares to think and dare to do
Having said so much, some friends may think, "It's nothing, who wouldn't pile up materials?" ”
But the problem is that the target market of tecno has decided that they can't blindly "pile up" like the flagship products of their domestic counterparts. So this means that TECNO has to be smart enough to make up for the lack of SoC specifications with some unique techniques.
For example, Tecno's newly released Camon 30 series has four models from entry-level to high-end. They are equipped with SoCs ranging from 4G models like the MediaTek Helio G99 Ultimate to mid-to-high-end 5G SoCs like the Dimensity 8200 Ultimate.
In order to ensure the consistency of the basic image experience of these four models, on the one hand, Tecno has equipped the entire Camon 30 series with a 50-million-pixel front camera and a 50-million-pixel outsole + optical image stabilization rear main camera. On the other hand, an independent "Pre-ISP" chip is built into this series of models for independent image AI calculation. As a result, even the lowest-spec version delivers impressive low-light image quality.
Another example is that the Tecno Spark 20 series comes standard with MediaTek Helio G99, but on this series it comes with a curved AMOLED screen and 10.8 billion pixel main camera CMOS.
Of course, there is also the new Pova6 Pro 5G, which is also released this time. The Dimensity 6080 main controller it is equipped with in other brands may mean that it is a "boring" model, but Tecno has designed a set of extremely cool, shiny, and ambient lighting backplate for it, and uses a 100 million pixel main camera, and even a large-capacity battery that is said to be the industry's highest energy density, with 6000mAh, and supports 70W fast charging.
Tecno is not only a sword, but also a true flagship
Some friends may think that bold creativity, products that dare to think and dare to do, and the configuration of "sword going sideways" may be the secret of Tecno's success.
In a sense, this is true, but this does not mean that Tecno only wants to be a brand that will always "go off the rails". In fact, they also have some truly high-end flagships.
For example, the Tecno now has the flagship Phantom V Fold, which is a large fold, and a small Phantom V Flip.
For example, they just released the MegaBook T16 Pro, an "AI PC" laptop based on Intel Core Ultra processors and with a generative AI platform built-in. This product can even run its CPU up to 65W and has a built-in 9999Wh high-capacity battery, equipped with a 100W GaN power adapter and 2Screen with 5K resolution.
In addition, Tecno also released a "portable game console" Pocket Go. It packs an AMD Ryzen 7-8840HS processor, a 16GB+1TB storage combination, and replaceable batteries into a controller-sized chassis and outputs gaming footage via a matching AR headset that projects the equivalent 215-inch image. As a result, the official also claimed that it was "the world's smallest AR handheld".
Of course, not to mention that Tecno also unveiled their first bionic robot dog, the Dynamic 1, today. Not surprisingly, it also incorporates the most cutting-edge AI perception and bionic structure design.
So what does all this mean? Quite simply, despite having a good market performance overseas, Tecno obviously wants to go further at both the technical and chain levels. And this state of mind of "wanting to be a flagship and wanting to go high" may become a key factor for TECNO to go further in the future.
