And the sweeping robot at home is doing the dirtiest work every day. I am guaranteed to realize the beautiful vision of barefoot freedom all year round. After all, who knows how dirty the ground in a pet home is? In addition to a large amount of hair every day, there is also a layer of floating ash brought out by the litter box.

So the real situation is: it is much more difficult to buy a sweeping robot with high cleaning coverage, good obstacle avoidance ability, and excellent cleaning effect than to choose a dishwasher and washing machine.

At present, the sales of sweeping robots are hot on the market, and everyone is more familiar with them, mainly concentrated in the four major brands: Dreame, Ecovacs, Cloud Whale and Stone.
This time, three base station sweeping robots were selected: Cloud Whale J4 (hereinafter referred to as Cloud Whale), Dreame X30 Pro (hereinafter referred to as Dreame) and Ecovacs T20S Pro (hereinafter referred to as Ecovacs). (Why are there no stones?) This is covered later in Chapter 5).

Route planning capability is related to the cleaning coverage of the ground, and at present, almost all mainstream sweeping robots use LDS laser modules to scan the surrounding environment and build digital maps to present in mobile apps. Operations such as zoning & fixed-point cleaning, and demarcating forbidden areas must be realized through digital maps.
In addition to laser navigation, Ecovacs uses a DTOF navigation method with a higher sampling rate (7200Hz accuracy) and a longer detection distance (10 meters) than LDS laser navigation. It uses a fully enclosed module, which is less prone to dust, and it is faster to generate a digital map for the first time.
However, there is not much difference between LDS laser navigation and DTOF navigation in daily use. The digital maps generated by the three robots are very close to the real house of my home.
Unfortunately, due to the fact that Ecovacs' DTOF module is slightly taller than the cloud whale and Dreame's laser module, it is the only one of the three that cannot enter the bottom of my cabinet. The actual cleaning area is about 2 less than that of Dreame and Cloud Whale (really just a few millimeters).
First of all, I have to mention the cloud whale J4. It has finally been upgraded from the ancestral infrared obstacle avoidance of J1, J2 and J3 to 3D two-line structured light obstacle avoidance. It has reached the hardware configuration of the current flagship sweeping robot。Compared with J1, J2 and J3, the obstacle avoidance ability has made a qualitative leap.
What is 3D structured light? It is basically the same as the hardware in the iPhone's notch: the left and right laser projectors are responsible for projecting to the object in front, and then the camera assists in capturing the measured object to determine the state of the space ahead. Therefore, it can be distinguished from the power supply data cable and the table leg.

Ability to pass through confined spaces

It can be seen that the three sweeping robots are almost the same in their algorithms for avoiding obstacles, and they all represent the highest level in the industry. So what are the differences between them in terms of cleaning logic?
The three sweeping robots all use a self-cleaning base station + pressurized rotating mop to mop the ground. But their cleaning logic is quite different.

5.1 Sidebrush logic
Among the three models, Cloud Whale and Ecovacs are in the form of bilateral brushing and chasing unilateral brushing. Compared with single-sided brushes, double-sided brushes have a higher single-shot coverage rate in sweeping mode. If the sweeping robot wants to mop the floor cleanly and have a good removal effect on stubborn air-dried stains, the downforce must be sufficient. (The picture above is the actual measurement of the sweeper with less mopping pressure, and the ability to deal with stubborn stains is weak).

5.4 Cleaning strategies along the edge

Dreame X30 Pro:
The solution given by Dreame X30 Pro is an active bionic arm structure. This industry innovation is indeed worthy of praise, but the idea is innovative. It's a little problematic to use.
In addition, the center of gravity changes after the mop is extended, and the downforce of the mop must be lower than 5N. So in the case of insufficient downforce, the cleaning power along the edge is actually weakened again. This can be proved from **.
Ecovacs & Cloud Whale:
Although Ecovacs and Cloud Whale do not have a robotic arm structure, they can both twist their butts and mop the floor to take care of cleaning along the edge.

The previous chapter showed the operation logic of the three side brushes, and the difference is mainly reflected in the problem of whether to fly garbage. 7.2 Automatic dust collection

Many people (including me) ignore the fact that the dust box still needs to be cleaned regularly because the base station has automatic dust collection. The picture above is the stuck ash of the dust box, stained with dust. The dust box is airtight and invalid, and dust is raised while sweeping during cleaning, causing secondary pollution.
Cloud Whale J4 seems to have taken this problem into account, and it did not add the automatic dust collection function to the base station. Instead, we are given the option of a monthly dust bag and a traditional reusable dust box on the robot host.
