The Android version of Apple's AirDrop feature has finally started rolling out to Pixel devices after it was announced at CES 2024 earlier this year.
Google's Nearby Share and Samsung's Quick Share have always behaved a lot like AirDrop. These features allow you to quickly exchange files and ** with nearby devices, but annoyingly, only for devices that use the same sharing system - so if you're using a Samsung Galaxy phone and your buddy has a Google Pixel, then you'll have to transfer files differently.
At CES 2024, Google and Samsung revealed that Google's Nearby Share will be rebranded to Quick Share (after an accidental teaser of this renaming at the end of 2023), and Samsung and Google devices will be able to share files with each other — as well as other Nearby Share compatible devices like Chromebooks and other Android phones — finally making Nearby Share Quick Share AirDrop The correct Android version of .
Eventually, this new Quick Share system will also be extended to Windows machines, and Samsung's Quick Share platform manager says (translated from Korean) that this support will arrive in the third quarter of 2024 (July-September).

Non-pixel users are also replying to Rahman's post, along with screenshots showing the new quick share on Samsung and OnePlus devices.
We haven't seen this change on any of the Pixel phones yet – the author's Pixel 6 still shows "Nearby Sharing" – but we'll be keeping an eye out for minor but important updates to Android's sharing system. According to a post by a Samsung manager on its community message board (translated from Korean), Galaxy phones should receive the update by tomorrow.
Google should apparently finish rolling out the update to other Android devices between February 2 and February 16 (according to Mishaal Rahman's new post).
Samsung Galaxy S24, S24 Plus, S24 Ultra (**Future |.)Alex Walker-Todd) in addition to this quick share change, with the release of One UI 61 With the launch of the update, Samsung phones can also expect some other updates soon.
