Hello everyone! Today I would like to talk to you about the topic of becoming a counselor. You may wonder what is so special about becoming a counselor. Don't worry, let me take my time. First of all, when you become a counselor, you will find that your heart becomes stronger and more resilient. Because you will face all kinds of complex emotional and psychological problems every day, you will constantly learn how to regulate your emotions and how to stay calm and rational. This is not only the exercise of your professional ability, but also the sharpening of your personal psychological quality. Second, you'll find yourself becoming a better listener and understanding of others. A counselor's daily job is to communicate with people, listen to their stories, and understand their feelings. Over time, you will find that you will become more empathetic in your daily life and know how to communicate well with others.
Moreover, becoming a counsellor allows you to continuously expand your horizons and knowledge. You'll be exposed to a wide variety of people and stories, and hear different voices and perspectives. This will make your worldview broader and more diverse, and it will also make you more tolerant and understanding of different cultures and values. In the end, I would like to say that the biggest reward of becoming a counselor may be the "satisfaction of the soul". When you help someone out of a difficult situation and see them regain their confidence and happiness, that satisfaction cannot be expressed in words. You will deeply feel your own value and meaning, and you will cherish and appreciate your life even more.
About how I became a counselor, and the "pits" and "surprises" that made people laugh and cry along the way.
To be honest, I didn't have much interest in psychology as a child. Until one time, I met a special friend - Xiaoli. She is an introverted, sensitive girl who is always depressed because of small things. That day, she came to me crying and said that she felt like a failure and couldn't do anything. Seeing her so sad made me feel bad. So, I started trying to comfort her and tell her funny things in the hope of making her happy.
Unexpectedly, this attempt turned out to be surprisingly effective! Xiaoli's mood slowly stabilized, and she began to share her thoughts and worries with me. At that moment, I suddenly realized that listening to and understanding others can bring so much power. From that moment on, I made up my mind to become a counselor and help more people like Xiaoli.
Of course, the learning process is not easy. I'm going to chew on obscure psychology books and attend all kinds of training and practice. But every time I see people who have regained their confidence and happiness because of my help, I feel that all the hard work is worth it.
After becoming a counselor, I met a variety of people whose stories and experiences touched me deeply. Once, I was approached by a young man who had broken out of love, and he said bitterly that he couldn't get out of the shadow of his lovelorn. I listened patiently to his story and gave him some advice and support. A few months later, he excitedly told me that he had found love again and that life was full of hope again. At that moment, I deeply felt my value and mission.
In the process, I have also gained a lot of unexpected growth. I learned how to communicate better with others and how to better understand the needs and feelings of others. I also got to know myself more deeply and understood my strengths and weaknesses. It all made me more mature, confident and rounded.
