On February 22, local time, the zoo in Madrid, the capital of Spain, held a farewell ceremony for the giant pandas who are about to return to China.

In 1978, giant pandas "Shao Shao" and "Qiang Qiang" first came to Spain from China and settled in Madrid Zoo. Currently, giant pandas "Hua Zui" and "Bing Xing" and their children "Zhu Lina", "Jiujiu" and "Youyou" live in the Madrid Zoo as a family of five.

Erena, Zoo keeper, Madrid: We love them so much that now they are leaving, we are going to send them back to their country.

According to the agreement between China and Spain, after the return of the five giant pandas living in Madrid, a pair of young giant pandas will soon settle in Madrid, continuing the "panda complex" between the two peoples for more than 40 years.

On the same day, Chinese Ambassador to Spain Yao Jing and Madrid Mayor Almeida attended the farewell ceremony and delivered speeches. Almeida said that the giant panda family brings endless joy to the people of Madrid. He thanked China for its trust in renewing the cooperation agreement with Madrid Zoo, so that the cute giant pandas can continue to accompany the citizens of Madrid, and he believes that they will also become a bond of friendship between the two peoples.
