year, You Taizhong sent it to the old leaderA good cigarette, what did you say?

On the evening of February 22, 1973, Comrade ** was living in Xishan and was about to rest, when he suddenly heard a loud "Report!" He went out and looked at it and asked in surprise, "Why did you come back?" ”

The person who came was Major General You Taizhong, deputy commander of the Beijing Military Region and principal leader of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

Figure 1 "These 5 Chinese cigarettes are for you." You Taizhong said solemnly, and at the same time handed the cigarette to Comrade ***. Comrade was stunned for a moment, then took it.

After sitting down, Comrade ** lit one, took a deep breath, and through the smoke, he stared at the tiger-eyed general in front of him, and said a word faintly. What is the connection between General You Taizhong and Comrade ***?

Why did he deliver cigarettes to Comrade *** in the middle of the night? What did Comrade say again? Comrade You Taizhong, also known as the heroic "behind enemy lines", was born in 1918 and his hometown is in Xinyang, Henan.

When he was a child, his family was poor, but he was tireless in learning, and often eavesdropped outside the private school in the village, and his excellent memory was amazing.

Figure 2 In 1931, 13-year-old You Taizhong lost the landlord's cattle in an accident and could only search for them in hunger and cold. In the desperate situation of his life, a passing Red Army cooking squad leader reached out to him, provided him with hot food and clothing, and asked him about his living situation with concern.

This experience made You Taizhong deeply feel the love and warmth of the Red Army, and he decided to follow the squad leader to join the Red Army. In 1934, You Taizhong became a member of the middle school.

Even after he served as a division commander for many years, every time he saw this former revolutionary guide, he would still respectfully raise his arms and salute to express his respect and gratitude to this old squad leader.

During the protracted revolutionary battles, You Taizhong gradually became a commander with distinctive characteristics in our army. Why is that?

Figure 3 He has a unique habit, when planning a combat plan, he likes to pinch his fingers between his eyebrows, and after a long time, a vertical "sarcoma" will form there.

When he starts to press the brim of his hat, it means that he has made up his mind that no one can change it. If he takes off his hat and throws it, then he is ready to charge himself. If he touches his cheek with his hand to show his snow-white teeth, it means that the victory is in hand.

His memory is very outstanding, and every time he receives an order, he returns to his unit and begins to convey to the map, including the departure time, marching route, arrival time, combat position, etc., which can be conveyed verbatim.

Even on the Korean battlefield, he can casually say thousands of strange Korean place names on the map, which is amazing. He often said, "I didn't have the opportunity to read, I had to rely on memory."

Fighting a war is not a trivial matter, but it's not okay to remember wrong! ”

At the end of October 1943, You Taizhong, who served as the commander of the 17th Regiment of the 386th Brigade of the 129th Division under the two chiefs of Liu and Deng, took the initiative to go deep behind the enemy lines and attack in all directions after completing the task of covering the transfer of the leading organs of the Taiyue Military Region.

He led the 17th Regiment in a fierce battle with the Japanese besieging from three sides, fighting from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. At night, he seized the opportunity when the Japanese did not dare to attack, and led his troops to successfully jump out of the encirclement of the Japanese army.

A few days later, he ambushed more than 30 Japanese convoys near the Qugao Highway and captured a large amount of grain and **. According to the intelligence, You Taizhong found that the Japanese army was attacking everywhere, and the rear must be empty, so he decided to attack Longhua Town, an important stronghold of the Japanese army.

Figure 511On the evening of November 7, You Taizhong personally went to Longhua Town to explore the Japanese stronghold, and learned that only the puppet army was stationed, so he ordered the troops to raid the puppet army, and successfully disarmed and transported the supplies.

Then, he had the demolition team blow up the Japanese stronghold in Longhua Town. Before the Japanese army could react, he aimed at Shangge, an important stronghold of the Japanese army's sweep of our base area.

You Taizhong commanded the troops to tightly surround Shangge Village, and personally led a company to rush into the stronghold, defeating the puppet army in just over half an hour. The remaining puppet army hid in a compound to resist, and You Taizhong did not use a strong attack, but ordered his subordinates to throw large bundles of grenades into it, successfully eliminating all the more than 120 puppet troops.

You Taizhong served as the commander of the 17th Regiment in the War of Resistance Against Japan, and he led his troops to attack the east and west, successfully destroying the supply lines of the Japanese army, and making the Japanese army's sweeping plan fail. His bravery and resourcefulness led the Japanese army to express in their post-war summary that they should be more careful with You Taizhong and his troops.

However, You Taizhong's real battle for fame was during the War of Liberation. He served as a brigade commander in the 6th Column and 16th Brigade of the Shanxi-Hebei-Luyu People's Liberation Army, and together with Political Commissar Du Yide, he jointly led the troops.

Once attacked Yutai and lost the first battle, but You Taizhong was not discouraged, but personally went to the front line and led the troops to move forward bravely. His heroic actions boosted the morale of the soldiers, and in the end, he won the battle.

In the War of Liberation, You Taizhong became one of the few brigade commanders who were wounded on the front line, but his courage and determination are still admirable.

Figure 7 - In August 1947, Liu Deng's army leaped thousands of miles into Dabie Mountain. After the establishment of the bridgehead for crossing the river, the Kuomintang troops swarmed in. At this time, those who remained on the north shore were Noji and Nakahara Bureau, with only 6 columns at hand and a full 15 divisions of pursuers behind them.

The situation was extremely urgent, but the leaders of Liu and Deng immediately made a decision, Xiao Yongyin led the 18th Brigade that had already crossed the river to continue to fight the bloody road, and You Taizhong's 16th Brigade was responsible for receiving the defense to cover the main force of the army crossing the river.

You Taizhong's 16th Brigade endured hard-fought battles and was reduced to only 7 battalions. However, they had to deal with an entire army of the Kuomintang. You Taizhong did not hesitate to find a broken earth house in Da Lei Gang as a command post, and the brigade political commissar commanded 200 meters away, ready to die and another to take over the command.

The battle was in full swing, until the last man. You Taizhong even heard the pleas of the Kuomintang troops on the walkie-talkie: "I can't move!" Get the cannon!

* Too fierce! The battle continued until the next day, when the two chiefs, Liu and Deng, and Chief of Staff Li Da suddenly appeared outside You Taizhong's headquarters. You Taizhong was both surprised and nervous, because he knew that guns were flying outside, and he was afraid of hurting the three leaders.

However, the three leaders insisted on watching the large army cross the river from the outside, but did not enter the headquarters. Suddenly, a cannonball landed nearby, and the air wave blew You Taizhong's military hat away.

Only then did the three chiefs be pulled into the command post by him.

Lao You, do you know the meeting place? "Yes! You Taizhong replied. "Pengdian, Pengdian! Don't forget! *Comrade turned back to him as he walked.

Decades later, You Taizhong still remembers Comrade ***'s caring advice.

Figure 10 In this life-and-death battle, You Taizhong led the 16th Brigade to fight bloodily and did his best, although he lost more than 2,000 soldiers, he finally succeeded in covering the Central Plains Bureau, Yeji and all the wounded to cross the river safely.

** After Comrade became the leader of the country, he mentioned the crisis twice and highly praised You Taizhong: "You Taizhong is a meritorious man!" The next morning, You Taizhong led his troops to arrive at the Pengdian camp, and when Comrade ** saw him, he strode over, held his hand tightly, and said excitedly: "You have worked hard!" ”

In the battle of the Ru River, You Taizhong left a deep impression on Comrade ***, so Noji has been following his 16 travels, only in this way can Comrade ** feel at ease, and the revolutionary friendship between them is getting deeper and deeper.

** Comrade's style of action is resolute and resolute, and cannot be changed, so many commanders in Nino are afraid of him. However, You Taizhong's opinion can be recognized by him.

Chief of Staff Li Da has repeatedly made suggestions to *** through You Taizhong. Once, when the army was marching and found an enemy in front of it, Li Da suggested that You Taizhong convey this situation to the political commissar and ask the headquarters to temporarily stop advancing.

If it were someone else, ** might refuse, but after You Taizhong made this suggestion, the command immediately took action. In 1955, You Taizhong was awarded the rank of major general, and his military achievements were outstanding, and his loyalty and courage were exemplary in the army.

His image was portrayed in "Bright Sword" as the prototype character of Li Yunlong, Lieutenant General Wang Jinshan. General You and General Wang had been fighting side by side since the time of the Agrarian Revolution, and General You had always had great respect for his old chief.

However, General Wang got into trouble in peacetime because of family problems with divorce and remarriage. In the face of strict military discipline, such a thing could not be tolerated, so General Wang was arranged to be reformed on a farm in Henan.

1.General You has always had an idea, that is, he wants to help his old chief. In April 1969, during the "Ninth National Congress", he found General Xu Shiyou to talk about this matter.

2.General You expressed his concern that Wang Jinshan's problem had been dealt with too seriously. When General Xu heard this, he suggested that he try to find Wang Jinshan.

3.However, General You reminded General Xu Shiyou that Wang Jinshan's reinstatement level needed to be approved by **. General Xu Shiyou asked General You if there was a solution.

4.General You put forward his own suggestions, he believed that now was the time for war, and excellent generals like Wang Jinshan were needed. After hearing this, General Xu Shiyou agreed.

5.Subsequently, General Xu Shiyou raised the matter with *** and got ***'s approval. This news quickly caused a sensation in the army and became the "heavy" news at that time.

One evening in July 1969, General You, Wu Shihong, and Xiao Yongyin met the director of the old subordinate administration outside the No. 1 Guest House of the Nanjing Military Region, and learned that General Wang Jinshan and his wife would arrive in Nanjing at 1 a.m. the next day.

So, General You immediately invited the two generals to the train station to greet him. When General Wang Jinshan and his wife appeared at the train station in their old military uniforms, they were stunned by the scene in front of them, and the three veteran military subordinates had been waiting for them on the platform for a long time.

General You felt very guilty in his heart, and that night he asked the director of the bureau to fry a few dishes for the chief and his wife in the guest house of the military region, and he and his wife Wang Xuechen accompanied him all the time.

The next day, he specially arranged two tables of banquets for the old chief.

On February 21, 1973, General You went to the 301 Hospital to visit General Li Da. General Li asked General You: "Do you know that Commissar Deng is back?" General You replied, "I don't know." ”

General Lee suggested: "Go and see him, right?" General You said that he really didn't know that Political Commissar Deng lived in **. General Lee asked, "You don't want to go?" General You hurriedly replied: "Why don't I want to go!"

We haven't seen each other in years! General Li proposed: "Then you can go in my car, or take Su Zhenhua's (General)'s car." General You expressed his willingness to go with General Li's car to visit Commissar Deng.

General You's respect and admiration for Comrade *** has not diminished in the slightest even in the stage when Comrade *** is idle. On February 22, as soon as Comrade ** arrived in Beijing, General You immediately took action and took the two generals to Comrade ***'s residence.

As soon as they met, General You immediately stood up and saluted, expressing his deep respect for the old chief. When Comrade *** asked with a little surprise why General You came to visit him, General You replied sincerely: "You are my old chief!" ”

In this special period, General You brought Comrade *** a pack of Chinese cigarettes, but because of his slightly slow movements, Comrade *** took a puff first. General You then found out that it was a pack of low-quality bulk cigarettes, and his mood was complicated.

But he didn't leave the cigarette at Comrade ***'s house, but went straight to the Jingxi Hotel and found his old subordinate, the commissary manager. General You's respect and admiration for Comrade *** is reflected in his practical actions, which is worthy of the honor of the old chief.

Old subordinate: "General, this is Chinese cigarettes, how many do you want?" General You: "Give it all to me." The old subordinate was puzzled: "Who is it for?" General You smiled: "Give it away." ”

After General You finished speaking, he immediately drove back to Comrade ***'s residence and handed over a few Chinese cigarettes: "Political Commissar Deng, here you go." * took the cigarette and took a deep breath: "I haven't smoked such a good cigarette in years." ”

** Gazing at General You affectionately, his eyes were full of gratitude.

No matter who gives the instructions, I won't act! The reason is that General You felt that the script was different from the real history of the Long March.

**After listening to the report, the comrades laughed and decided to cancel the performance. The veteran general treats history with a realistic attitude. Although General You Taizhong passed away on July 24, 1998, his bravery, loyalty, and integrity will always be a shining example for future generations of revolutionaries.
