Recently, Gan Yu, spokesperson of the China Coast Guard, issued a statement on the illegal intrusion of Philippine vessels on Ren'ai Jiao, stressing that the China Coast Guard will always be ready to resolutely respond to any infringement and provocation at any time, and resolutely safeguard national territorial sovereignty and maritime rights and interests.
It is understood that on March 5, the Philippines violated its commitment and dispatched two coast guard ships and two supply ships to intrude into the waters adjacent to Ren'ai Jiao in China's Nansha Islands in an attempt to deliver supplies to the illegal "beached" **. The China Coast Guard controls and regulates in accordance with the law, and makes temporary special arrangements for Philippine vessels transporting essential daily necessities. However, the Philippine Haijing vessel 4407 ignored China's warnings, violated the International Rules for Avoiding Collisions at Sea, and deliberately rammed the Haijing 21555 boat normally enforced by the Chinese side in a dangerous manner, resulting in minor scrapes. The Philippines is solely responsible for this incident, and its deliberate provocation and malicious hype have seriously undermined peace and stability in the South China Sea.
Second Thomas Shoal is part of China's Spratly Islands, over which China has indisputable sovereignty. Ignoring history and international law, the Philippines has attempted to change the status quo at Ren'ai Jiao through illegal means, which has seriously violated China's territorial sovereignty and maritime rights and interests. The actions taken by the China Coast Guard are reasonable and lawful, and are aimed at safeguarding the country's core concerns and territorial integrity.
The China Coast Guard stressed that it will always maintain a high degree of vigilance and resolutely respond to any infringement of China's territorial sovereignty and maritime rights and interests. We urge the Philippines to immediately stop all abusive and provocative actions and earnestly respect China's territorial sovereignty and maritime rights and interests in the South China Sea. At the same time, we also call on the international community to jointly maintain peace and stability in the South China Sea, promote regional countries to resolve differences through dialogue and consultation, and jointly safeguard regional prosperity and stability.
