The Clipper Ocean Race Organising Committee has been closely monitoring the direction of the racing teams and the weather changes due to the huge wind tunnel taking shape in front of the finish line ahead and the high tide time of the racing teams entering the Jiuzhou Port in Zhuhai. In order to ensure that the Clipper fleet arrives in Zhuhai on time, does not affect the crew change, and the pre-race adaptation training and preparation of the crew for the new stage, the decision was made to reduce the race distance of Race 8.
Accordingly, the Clipper Organising Committee has decided to officially end the race at 0:00 UTC on March 6, 2024 (8 a.m. Beijing time on the same day), and then the fleet will rush to Zhuhai Jiuzhou Port to dock at the fastest speed.
The results will be determined based on the following mechanism: each boat will need to report its position at sea to the Organising Committee at the official end time, i.e. 0:00 UTC (8 a.m. local time), and the final ranking will be determined based on the distance from the centre of the finish line (the closer to the centre marker of the finish line, the higher the race standing).
The time window for the racing team to arrive at the Jiuzhou Port Pier is between 16:30 and 17:30 on March 6, 2024.
