After the death of his father, Lu Yun, the queen of Wang Yaowu, set up a scholarship in the name of his father at Stanford for students from China, and priority was given to international students from the mainland, followed by Hong Kong and Baodao students.
Who is Wang Yaowu? Why did his children have this realization? Wang Yaowu was born in the Whampoa Military Academy and was a senior Kuomintang general and a famous general. Because he won the Order of the Blue Sky and the White Sun, and also won the Medal of Freedom of the United States. In addition, although he participated in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, he made a lot of contributions. But he also participated in the civil war, encircled and suppressed the Red Army, and then was captured by our army, and only repented after being imprisoned for many years.
Wang Yaowu was born in 1904 from a relatively poor family, but he read a lot of books. Later, he was fortunate to be admitted to the Whampoa Military Academy and was appreciated by Lao Jiang, so Wang Yaowu has always been loyal to Lao Jiang, after all, Lao Jiang has the grace of knowing him. This is also the reason why he was repeatedly ordered to participate in the encirclement and suppression of the Red Army from 1934 to the full-scale outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japan.
During the period of hostility with our army, Wang Yaowu showed outstanding military talent, and Lao Jiang's evaluation of him was three Li, not as good as one king. The three Li are Li Yannian, Li Xianzhou and Li Yutang. All three graduated from Whampoa, with the rank of lieutenant general and held the position of corps commander. Our Su Yu's evaluation of him is that Lao Jiang has two strong rivals, in addition to Du Yuming, Wang Yaowu is counted.
And Wang Yaowu did not live up to the world's reputation for him, especially during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, he successively participated in more than a dozen battles of all sizes such as the Battle of Songhu and the Battle of Nanjing, and performed particularly well in the Battle of Shanggao, the Battle of Changde, and the Battle of Xiangxi.
But during the subsequent War of Liberation, Wang Yaowu was not good. The Battle of Laiwu indirectly led to the annihilation of Li Xianzhou's army, and after seeing Zhang Lingfu's death in the Battle of Menglianggu, he began to advise Lao Jiang to abandon Jinan, and later was directly defeated and captured when he was stationed in Jinan. The reason is self-evident, Wang Yaowu has grown up, and no longer blindly chooses to obey Lao Jiang's actions as he did at the beginning, but has his own ideas. That is, it is okay to the outside world, and there is no ambiguity in fighting by yourself. But internally, he felt lost. Therefore, a generation of fierce generals will eventually be defeated again and again.
After Wang Yaowu was defeated and captured in 1948, he began to receive education in prison, where he remained for 11 years until he was pardoned in 1959. And the reason why he was pardoned is very simple, that is, he figured out what he should do in the future.
Wang Yaowu, who came out of prison, quickly returned to a normal life, and then served as a member of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference until he died in the hospital in 1968.
Speaking of Wang Yaowu's death, we have to mention some things that happened after him, such as placing his ashes in the Babaoshan Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery in Beijing in 1980, recognizing his contribution to the nation and the country.
Another example is that after his death, Lu Yun, the queen of his independence, set up a scholarship at Stanford University in the United States in his name, and this scholarship will be given priority to international students from the mainland. And Wang Luyun has this realization, perhaps because someone recognizes that his father is a national hero, not a war criminal.
