According to TASS on March 2, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov pointed out at a press conference held after the end of Antalya, Turkey, that Armenia believes that the original friendly policy towards Russia was wrong, and this statement may lead to a major adjustment in bilateral relations.

Referring to the relevant speech of the representative of the current leadership in Yerevan, he noted: "It takes political courage to assert that Armenia has pursued a wrong course in relations with Russia since 1991 - to say so." If this is the opinion of the Armenian leadership as a whole, and on the basis of the opinion of the entire Armenian people, then it is necessary to reconsider a number of issues in Russian-Asian relations. ”

Lavrov added: "We cannot prohibit others from making any statements and announcements about our future relations, but in the final analysis, everything should be based on the will of the people of our country." ”

Lavrov stressed that Armenia is being bewitched by promises of help from Western countries, which actually want Armenia to sever ties with Russia and regional integration organizations, the report said.

"The Armenian leadership has decided to bet on extraterritorial countries that are offering courtesy to Yerevan and promising to help Yerevan solve all difficulties, but only if Armenia severes its relations with Russia and with the integration organizations that have been established in our region," he noted. The West makes no secret of this. This is the main purpose of the West's dealings with the countries of Central Asia, with Armenia and other former Soviet republics. ”

Lavrov noted that however, the Armenian leadership has so far not officially confirmed its final decision, and Yerevan's politicians are only discussing whether to "cool down a little" or freeze their activities in the CSTO, or simply leave the CSTO, but they are still interested in the EAEU because Armenia has something to gain from it.

Lavrov concluded: "This is not a very pretty-looking situation. We very much hope that our Armenian counterparts, our Armenian partners, will decide for themselves how to continue their lives and how to jointly implement the agreements that have been reached in the various integration organizations that bind us together.
