As the number one "killer" on the road, drunk driving has made many people pay a heavy price! From March 1, 2024The latest inspection standards for drunk driving are officially implemented! What are the changes in the new standard? Let's take a look!
The new national standard lowers the upper limit of drinking and driving from 50mg 100ml to 20mg 100ml. As long as the driver's blood alcohol content exceeds 20mg 100ml, it is an offence. If the driver's blood ethanol content is greater than or equal to 80mg or 100ml, it will be considered drunk driving, and drunk driving is a crime.
The new national standard divides the detection methods of ethanol in blood and urine into two types, namely gas chromatography and electrochemical sensor method. The old national standard only stipulates gas chromatography as a laboratory testing method, but does not stipulate an on-site testing method.
The new national standard adjusts the conversion factor between the amount of ethanol in blood and the amount of ethanol in breath from 2100 to 2300. This is based on the latest scientific research and statistics, which is more in line with the physical and metabolic characteristics of Chinese.

Experts say that in general, about 10 minutes after drinking, alcohol will be absorbed by the body into the bloodstream, and it will reach its peak in 1 hour to 1 and a half hours.
If you only drink a glass of beer or a glass of red wine, you need to go through at least 6 hours of metabolism before you can drive again; If you drink more than 3 taels of low-alcohol liquor, you will need to drive for at least 20 to 24 hours, considering individual and environmental differences.
The rate at which alcohol is metabolized in the human body depends on many factors, and in general, the degradation half-life of alcohol in the body is greater than 6 hours. Depending on individual differences, some may take more than 10 hours or even 20 hours to metabolize.
In daily life, many people have encountered "wrongful things": they did not drink, but just ate some fruit, but were found to be "drunk driving". According to the traffic police test, after eating several lychees in one go, a breath alcohol test was immediately conducted, and the result was 30mg 100ml, which met the standard of drunk driving, but after 10 minutes of re-testing, the "drunk driving" state was easily lifted, which is often called "fake drunk driving". In addition to lychees, fruits with a high sugar content such as durian, jackfruit, longan, raisins, and bayberry may also make people who eat them "drunk driving".
In addition, in addition to fruits, eating these foods before driving can also be "drunk driving":
Fermented foods such as fermented bean curd and sake
Daily fermented foods will have alcohol during the production process or after fermentation, and it is easy to "get hit" after eating. Distiller's grains are a type of "culprit" that causes fake drunk driving, such as drunk crab, beer duck, sweet wine, wine-stuffed balls, tofu milk, etc.
Confectionery
Many friends often eat small snacks such as tiramisu, egg yolk pie, Swiss rolls, and wine chocolates, in fact, it is easy to be detected as drinking and driving after eating these things, because most of them contain alcohol.
If you have eaten the above foods before driving, rest for 15-30 minutes before driving. Rinse your mouth with water before driving. If you are mistakenly charged for drunk driving due to eating the above food, you can ask the traffic police to retest it after 10 minutes, and the alcohol content in the mouth will naturally dissipate, and the blowing value will drop to the safe value or zero. A blood test may also be requested from the police to check the blood alcohol level.
