Waiting for eternity - a review of Yue Haitao's "Appearance" series of oil paintings
Yue Haitao's "Appearance" series of oil paintings abandon the various events and symbols of the grand narrative, and are obsessed with describing the situation of waiting backstage on the theatrical stage, showing the hidden picture that is not well known behind the spotlight. It shows the maturity and self-confidence of the artist's unique characteristics and characteristics.
As an ancient civilization, China's quintessence such as Peking Opera, after experiencing the well-known popularity of the late Qing Dynasty, is now out of time and ill-fated, except for some elderly people who can hum a few words, the vast majority of young people can no longer enjoy the slow rhythm of the pause. In the face of the gradual decline of traditional culture in the contemporary era, the painter does not have unnecessary anxiety and straightforward call signs, he uses the brush in his hand to depict scenes closely related to it, and uses the brush to refine the rhythm and poetry of life in the picture waiting for the appearance.
Yue Haitao pursues the overall poetry, simple and free expression of feelings. In his opinion, the success of a painting does not lie in the thickness and speed of the painting, but in the clarity and strength of the expression. Here, the painter tries to use random brushstrokes, abandoning the texture of making fine ways, and many backgrounds use quick brushstrokes, which seems to be a bit "sloppy", guiding the audience's vision not to stay in a certain part, but to pay attention to the overall intention, meaning and emotion. In this way, the spiritual connotation of freehand oil painting is expressed.
Embodying the painter's ability to control the effect of the picture, he tried to make an effective Chinese-style transformation of the oil painting language that was originally known for color and perspective, and was able to depict the reality of reality, which was full of the life concept of oriental business interest, and magically jumped on the oil painting linen.
Judging from the superficial meaning of "Appearance", the charm of art or life is not only contained in the glamorous spotlight, although those who are waiting to appear are not on stage, their emotions have been immersed in the play, and they have been brewing their roles. The road of life, once on the field, has a kind of freedom like flowing water, like an antelope hanging its horns, without a trace. After more than 20 years of hard work, Yue Haitao has made remarkable artistic achievements. The oil painting "Appearance" series of works has appeared on the stage of domestic art, and professional art institutions such as the National Centre for the Performing Arts have issued invitations for collections. The "Appearance" series of works were selected for the National Art Exhibition of the Ten Arts Festival, the 12th National Art Exhibition and other important exhibitions, Yue Haitao's oil painting art makes people unconsciously feel the inner relaxation of art, and the beauty that gradually penetrates quietly stays in people's hearts for a long time, slowly occupying people's hearts.
When it comes to his plans for the next few years, he is still obsessed with the "Appearance Series", with many drama and stage characters, and appearances have been closely linked to his life. "The series is still going to be drawn for decades, and I want to continue to dig deeper into the appearances. Yue Haitao said with a smile.
