Committee member Li Guohua talked about toilet socialization, and we should not let the childhood me

Children can't run around the playground, stay in the wide aisles, and even sit in their own places in the classroom. Forced into desperation, they can only hide in the toilet to find a trace of social warmth. In recent years, such scenes have frequently appeared in the eyes of CPPCC member Li Guohua. He was deeply concerned that his children's childhood could not be allowed to become a memory in the toilet.

According to Li Guohua's research, the main reason behind forcing primary school students to "socialize in the toilet" is due to school safety concerns and parents' excessive anxiety about their children. In order to avoid safety accidents during recess activities, the school has adopted strict control measures. In judicial practice, once a school has a campus safety incident, it may be sentenced to be liable for compensation, which brings heavy pressure to the school. As a result, in order to reduce safety risks, schools have become more and more strict in their management of recess activities, even to the point of one-size-fits-all, with students barely allowed to leave the classroom during recess activities except for going to the toilet.

On the other hand, some parents are overprotective of their children, pursuing 100% safety in schools, and cannot tolerate minor skin injuries to their children, and are demanding of teachers and schools, which also prompts schools to impose stricter restrictions on recess activities.

However, long-term studies have clearly shown that minors have relatively short attention spans. At the end of a lesson, proper relaxation is essential for students. Excessive sedentary periods of time can not only cause physical health problems, but also adversely affect students' mental health. The data shows that a considerable proportion of adolescents in China are at varying risk of depression, which also means that they have greater problems in mental health. Recently, the number of child psychiatric departments in some hospitals has been overcrowded, suggesting that some students are feeling psychologically depressed due to long-term restrictions, and even affecting their social skills.

In the face of the "toilet socialization" that students have to have, we should find a way to "rescue" them from this limitation and let them have more fond childhood memories. Li Guohua suggested that the education department should come up with practical solutions to ensure that students across the country have the right to free movement between classes. For schools that have violated regulations for a long time, a punishment mechanism should be clearly established, and recess activities should be included in the scope of education supervision. In addition, it is advisable for the education department to further cooperate with the Supreme Court and the Supreme Procuratorate to clarify the relevant responsibilities of schools for accidental injuries after fulfilling their educational management responsibilities. At the same time, the education department can optimize the insurance rules or increase the types of insurance to ensure the safety of students during recess activities.

Li Guohua said that the education department, schools and parents should carry out multi-party cooperation in a timely manner to promote safety and security, so that students are no longer limited to "toilet socialization", but truly enjoy a colorful childhood life.

In this increasingly materially rich society, every family, school and society has a shared responsibility to let children thrive in a healthy and happy atmosphere and have those unforgettable childhood memories. Schools should deepen safety education and create a safe and vibrant learning environment for students; Parents need to guide their children correctly and give them care and guardianship in a timely manner; The education sector, on the other hand, should actively implement students' right to free movement between classes, and provide safe and secure places and effective risk management measures. Only in this way can we work together to create a safe, healthy and happy learning and social environment. Looking forward to the future, so that children's childhood is no longer limited by the shadow of the toilet, but can swim freely and meet their beautiful life journey.
