How to train a dog s concentration? Sit and wait

Mondo Pets Updated on 2024-03-07

From breed selection to the care of dogs in old age, every shovel officer needs a comprehensive strategy for dog rearing.

"Sitting and waiting" belongs to the "basic waiting", that is, the concentration of training the dog, and at the same time, it also lets the dog know that the dog owner is the "boss", and it has to obey the owner's orders. Before the waiting action training, the dog needs to learn some basic movements, such as sitting down. Then you can use a step-by-step approach from near to far, so that the dog can learn how to wait.

Step 1

When starting to "wait" for training, the dog owner must find a quiet, undisturbed place, otherwise the dog will be easily distracted. After the training is stable, you can find some places with a more complex environment for consolidation training from time to time to ensure that the dog will follow the command in any environment. The training method is to let the dog wear a collar, give it a "sit" command, and then make a "stop" gesture to the dog to make it wait. If it moves, it starts again; If he doesn't move, continue to encourage him until he can hold on for 2 minutes.

Step 2

When the dog has completed the "sit" command, the dog owner should take one or two steps back and repeat the first step, which is done to better consolidate the basic movements.

Step 3

Let the dog stay where it is and wait, then the dog owner will start walking from side to side, allowing the dog's eyes to follow the dog's body.

Step 4

When the dog sits still in place, the dog owner can continue to move, so that the dog is farther and farther away from him, during which time he should always make a "stop" gesture to the dog and let it wait.

Done

When the dog waits in place for a long time that meets the owner's expectations, the dog owner can return to the same place and give him encouragement, so that the dog understands that the owner can leave while waiting.

Be a responsible shovel officer and give the dog the best company!
