Wuzhi 19 is a light armed attack developed by Hafei, its design is derived from the Z-9W, using a tandem cockpit layout, four-page composite rotor, channel-type tail rotor, four external attachment points and the front three-point landing gear and other typical features of the armament. The Wuzhi 19 prototype successfully made its maiden flight in July 2010.
Wuzhi-19 is an armed reconnaissance aircraft developed by AVIC Hafei Research Institute, which was developed from the Z-9W armed with the Z-9W, power, transmission system and electronic equipment, but the design of the front fuselage has changed greatly. The aircraft and Japan's OH-1 "Ninja", Russia's "Ansat" 2R, etc., are all light armed reconnaissance, mainly used for battlefield reconnaissance or with Wuzhi-10 and other medium and heavy armed forces, and can also independently perform combat missions. So far, no official information has been released about the aircraft.
Subsequently, reports about the Wuzhi-19 also appeared in Russia. On August 9, 2010, the Russian military-industrial complex said: "The Aviation Industry Corporation of China has recently exhibited the first test aircraft of its newly developed attack *** Wuzhi-19. This new type of attack is based on the Z-9W in service with the Chinese Army Aviation and is mainly used to hit heavy targets such as tanks. Judging from the ** announced so far, the body of the Wuzhi-19 is narrower and uses tandem cockpit components. It retains the tail and main rotor design of the Z-9WA***.
In the case that China has developed the Wuzhi-10 armament, the sudden appearance of the Wuzhi-19 is somewhat surprising. From the perspective of technology and equipment, the emergence of the Wuzhi-19 is precisely the solution that can best balance the demand for equipment of China's army aviation and the R&D and production capacity of China's aviation industry.
