Dongguan's high-speed rail stations are basically located on the edge, which is completely inconvenient to serve Dongguan citizens. Moreover, after the opening of the Foguan intercity, it will hit the passenger flow of Humen high-speed rail station, and the passenger flow of Dongguan South Railway Station will be hit after the opening of the Dongguan-Huizhou intercity north extension line. The only high-speed rail station close to the city is the Dongguan station of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen Railway, but the Guangzhou-Shenzhen Railway is not a national high-speed rail line.
The layout of Dongguan's high-speed rail station is very unsuccessful, even if it is given the opportunity to make a railway hub, Dongguan does not want to work hard, such as Changping Station of Guangzhou-Shenzhen Railway, Dongguan East Station of Beijing-Kowloon Railway, and Changping East Station of Dongguan-Huizhou Intercity are obviously built together within a few kilometers to become a large hub station. All of this is a failure of planning.
Now Dongguan is eager to build the Guangzhou-Shenzhen second high-speed railway through the city center and Songshan Lake, and in February it approved its own "Letter on Applying for Examination and Approval of the Feasibility Study Report of the Clam Land Comprehensive Transportation Hub Project in Dongguan City, Guangdong Province". Dongguan is not interested in Fozhou-Dongguan intercity and Shenzhen-Huizhou intercity, and is now striving for the second high-speed railway in Guangzhou-Shenzhen. But without the support of Guangzhou and Shenzhen, this is nothing more than self-entertainment. Guangzhou is interested in the city's high-speed rail, Shenzhen is interested in the Shenzhen-Jiangxi high-speed rail and Shenzhen-Shantou high-speed rail, and is not enthusiastic about the Guangzhou-Shenzhen second high-speed railway.
The author believes that Dongguan will either vigorously build a subway to revitalize Humen Station and Dongguan South Railway Station, or build a high-speed rail connection line from the urban area to Changping, which is much more than the second high-speed railway in Guangzhou and Shenzhen.
