Beijing News (Reporter Wang Siyang) On March 3, Longda Gourmet issued a statement on the suspected eating of foreign objects in its "Longda Meat" brand ham, saying that after cooperating with the local market supervision department and authoritative institutions to test and investigate, the "foreign body" of the ham involved has been ruled out as a rat's tail.
On February 28, a Shandong netizen posted on social platforms that he ate a foreign object in the "Longda Meat" brand starch-free square meat ham, "like a rat's tail", and the related situation sparked online discussions. On March 1, the staff of Longda Gourmet replied to a reporter from the Beijing News that relevant departments and personnel have intervened in the investigation, and the specific situation needs to wait for the results of the investigation.
On March 3, Longda Food's official WeChat *** issued a statement saying that on February 29, the company sent special personnel to Qingdao to cooperate with the market supervision department to contact consumers face-to-face, jointly confirm and seal the ham involved, and send it to an authoritative institution for inspection and identification by the market supervision department.
According to the identification of the appearance of the "foreign body" in the ham involved by experts from the Shandong Provincial Animal Disease Prevention and Control Center and the Jinan Agricultural Products Quality and Safety Center, the "foreign body" is a hollow tubular with no bone structure and an outer diameter of about 25 mm, inner diameter about 1 mm. The appraisal opinion is that "it does not belong to the tail of an animal, and it is highly suspected to be an animal blood vessel." The Shandong Provincial Institute for Food and Drug Inspection and Research identified the rat-derived, chicken-derived, and pig-derived components of the ham involved in the "foreign body", and the test result was "no rat component detected, chicken component detected, and pig-derived component detected". According to the test results of authoritative institutions, the "foreign body" of the ham involved was ruled out as a rat's tail.
Longda Gourmet said that food safety is no trivial matter, thanks to the public's attention and supervision, the company will implement the brand concept of "quality first" to continue to operate.
