There are many types of "heritage", including natural heritage and cultural heritage.
The heritage is also graded, with national and world levels, and most of them are developed as high-grade scenic spots at the same time.
For example, Jiuzhaigou in Sichuan and Wulingyuan in Hunan are both world natural heritage and 5A-level scenic spots. The Forbidden City in Beijing and the Mogao Grottoes in Dunhuang are both world cultural heritage sites and 5A-level scenic spots.
However, there is another type of "heritage", which is not well known, and that is agricultural heritage. It is also divided into national and world-class.
Up to now, there are 188 important agricultural heritage sites (national level) in China and 22 globally important agricultural heritage sites (world class). These important agricultural heritage sites have become important tourism resources in the local area.
However, only a few have been rated as graded scenic spots. It is even more "rare" to be rated as a 5A-level scenic spot.
Important agricultural heritage refers to the unique agricultural production system created and inherited in the long-term coordinated development of rural areas and the natural ecological environment in which they are located. These systems include land-use systems, traditional knowledge and technology systems, and unique ecological and cultural landscapes, which have played, are and continue to play an important role in promoting local socio-economic and cultural development, and the sustainable development of people and the environment.
When it is an important agricultural heritage with national significance and national value, it is rated as "China's Important Agricultural Cultural Heritage" if it meets the requirements. When it has global significance and world value, it will be rated as "Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems" by United Nations agencies if it meets the requirements.
Among the agricultural cultural heritage, the most aesthetic value is the agricultural ecology and cultural landscape. Among the various types of agro-ecological and cultural landscapes, the most aesthetically valuable ones are the terraces.
There are many terraced tourist attractions in China, which are either national or world-class important agricultural heritage sites.
The most well-known GIAHS is the Southern Mountain Rice Terrace System. They are Guangxi Longsheng Longji Terraces, Hunan Xinhua Ziquejie Terraces, Jiangxi Chongyi Hakka Terraces, and Fujian Youxi United Terraces.
Among them, Longji Terraces and Purple Crane Terraces were rated as 4A-level scenic spots. It is also a rare 4A-level scenic spot among more than 200 national-level and world-class important agricultural cultural heritages.
However, there is one important agricultural heritage in China, which is not yet "world-class", and has been rated as a 5A-level scenic spot, becoming the "only" in China.
It's clouds and terraces.
Yunhe Terraces is located in Chongtou Town, Yunhe County, Lishui City, Zhejiang Province. The terraced landscape of the scenic spot, because the mountain is steeper, the field area of each "ladder" is smaller. The largest field can grow more than a dozen rows of seedlings, and the smallest field can only grow one or two rows of seedlings. Some people exaggeratedly describe it as "as small as a saucer, as big as a basin".
The terraces are distributed between 200-1200 meters above sea level, and the number of layers is nearly 1,000. Therefore, looking at the terraced rice fields from a distance, it is like an ink painting woven by the dense and fluttering lines of the painter's brush, the white mist is shrouded, and the layering of the virtual and the real jumps in front of you, which is more like a fairyland.
Because it has a history of nearly 1,000 years since its establishment, Yunhe terraces are also known as "thousand-layer terraces, 1,000-meter drop, and thousand-year history".
The beauty of the scenic area is not only the terraced rice fields, but also the sea of clouds, mountain villages, bamboo seas, streams and waterfalls. Due to the high altitude, there are even rare rime wonders in the south in winter. The fields are staggered, the ridges are mottled, the seedlings are like green, and the bamboo shadows are swaying, just like a paradise.
Yunhe's "nine mountains, half water, half fields", the wisdom of human beings, has made use of this "half field" to the extreme. The terraced rice fields become a beautiful landscape of clouds and clouds.
There are also many scenic spots such as Kenggen Stone Village, Qixingdun, World Terraced Museum, Kenggen Ancient Well, Yinguan Bridge, Wujian Waterfall and so on. There are also experience facilities such as the Cloud Viewing Ropeway and the Rice Dream Workshop.
Yunhe Terraces has become a comprehensive 5A-level scenic spot integrating sightseeing, leisure, photography, food, folk homestays, cultural and creative industries, etc.
The most beautiful thing is the rice terraces!
