The Israeli-Palestinian conflict seems to have reached a turning point, the United States is a little unsupportable in the world, and Israel is tired of the lengthy war.
Israeli infighting begins
Last night, several members of the IDF spokesman's group, led by Brigadier General Daniel Hagari, resigned. The reason for the resignation is unclear at this time, but it is believed to involve policies related to the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip.
General Hagari was not the only one who resigned.
According to initial reports, part of the resignation was due to differences of opinion within the IDF spokesman's team and personal anger at the team's leader, Brigadier General Daniel Hagari.
However, in the author's opinion, the spokesman of the Ministry of Defense is indeed two-pleased:
On the one hand, the domestic ** thinks that they falsely report the results of the war and hide the ** facts;
On the other hand, the Israeli military sees their propaganda failures and flawed work that has left the Ministry of Defense under attack.
America's divisions
On March 3, U.S. Deputy Kamala Harris bluntly said that Israel has not done enough to alleviate the "humanitarian catastrophe" in Gaza because Biden is facing increasing pressure to control his close allies while waging war with Hamas.
Harris spoke in front of the Edmund Petters Bridge in Selma, Alabama, where state police had beaten American civil rights activists nearly six decades earlier.
In her speech, Harris called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and urged Hamas to accept an agreement to release the hostages, cessating hostilities for a week in exchange for six hostages.
Much of her comments were directed at Israel, which appears to be the harshest condemnation of the state of the coastal enclave by a senior U.S. leader to date.
Harris said at an event in Alabama to commemorate the 59th anniversary of Bloody Sunday:
The people of Gaza are starving in inhumane conditions, and our common humanity compels us to act. ”
Israel** must do more to significantly increase aid flows. There are no excuses. ”
Her remarks reflect a strong sense of frustration, even despair, within the United States over the war that has hurt left-leaning voters in Joe Biden seeking re-election this year.
Harris said Israel must open new crossings, not impose "unnecessary restrictions" on aid deliveries, protect humanitarian personnel and convoys from being targeted, and work to restore essential services and promote order so that "more food, water and fuel can reach the affected population."
The U.S. conducted its first airdrop aid in Gaza on Saturday, and Harris is scheduled to meet with Benny Gantz, a member of Israel's wartime cabinet, at the White House on Monday, where she is expected to deliver a similar direct message.
Hamas refused to provide a full list of the hostages still alive after Israel boycotted the Gaza ceasefire talks in Cairo on Sunday, Israeli newspapers reported.
Hamas claims to want a ceasefire. Well, there's an agreement on the table. As we said, Hamas needs to agree to the agreement," Harris said. "Let's achieve a ceasefire. Let's reunite the hostages with their families. Let us provide immediate relief to the people of Gaza. ”
Of course, the pressure on Harris mainly comes from this year's **, Biden is now significantly behind Trump in the polls, and the large decline in support for Biden ** by the Islamic community should be an important reason why Harris took this opportunity to issue a ceasefire proposal.
However, whether there is a real ceasefire or just an election will depend on how it develops in the coming days.
