Xinhua Finance Shanghai, March 2 (Reporter Pan Qing) Dubai Multi Commodities Exchange (DMCC) recently completed its first China roadshow of the year in Hong Kong and Shanghai. While promoting its business ecosystem, DMCC expressed its expectation to share the opportunities of the Belt and Road Initiative with Chinese companies.
DMCC stands for Dubai Free Zones and the Commodities** and Enterprise Authority. Currently, 11 per cent of Dubai's FDI inflows are attracted through DMCC.
The roadshow with the theme of "Born for the Best" aims to showcase Dubai's unique advantages as a globally important business destination and the opportunities that the DMCC business ecosystem can offer. In 2023, DMCC has visited China twice to hold roadshows in Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chongqing, Shenzhen and Hong Kong. This year's inaugural China roadshow was held in Hong Kong and Shanghai, attracting nearly 500 business participants.
During the roadshow in Shanghai on March 1, Ahmed bin Sulaiim, executive chairman and CEO of DMCC, revealed that a total of 852 Chinese companies will settle in DMCC in 2023, an increase of 25% over the previous year. So far, 14% of the approximately 6,000 Chinese companies operating in the UAE have chosen DMCC, covering multiple core industries such as technology and **.
The growth rate of Chinese companies joining DMCC has been 25% in the past two years, which is a testament to the quality of our business environment and a range of services to meet their needs. Ahmed bin Sulaiim said that DMCC will go all out to provide more refined services to help Chinese companies promote their investment plans.
In recent years, China and the Arab States have joined hands to build a high-quality Belt and Road Initiative, and carefully created an all-round cooperation pattern of "heaven and earth". This also makes DMCC full of expectations and confidence in sharing the "Belt and Road Opportunity" with Chinese enterprises.
In Ahmed bin Sulaiim's view, Dubai is located at the intersection of the land and sea Silk Road, and its natural advantages can help Chinese companies expand overseas, especially in the Middle East. Chinese enterprises have made great achievements in DMCC, which will also effectively promote the joint construction of the "Belt and Road".
